To be honest, I've always found Burroughs unreadable. Now, it's not like I'm a Master's candidate in English Literature...hey, wait, I am a Master's candidate in English Literature! The Burgenius says: don't read the Brits', they're obsessed with heaven and hell. As Burroughs says: "don't do business with a religious man, he'll always use god to (screw) you on the deal". So how can I misquote Burroughs so often? Because I listen to his readings. The man is enchanting, entriguing, interesting as hell. He's no Celine on the page, but I can't find any readings by Celine; and as I don't speak French, it would do me no good. Remember the Friends where Pheobe trys to teach Joey French? That was so funny! I wonder if her marriage lasted, or if Joey was really Gay as we all suspected. But I digress. The Burgenius says: buy all the Burroughs you can get your hands on because he's sure not coming back to record anything else.
