5.0 out of 5 stars A TRULY SUBLIME ARTIST!
Mehdi is a most captivating artist who stands out in a class of his own! Being the owner of a large collection of New Age music, I find myself returning repeatedly to his music, in which to find peace and relaxation. I have all seven of his volumes, with Volume 7 being my favorite. That is not to say that his other volumes are any less enjoyable. Each volume is unique...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but rather boring
Being a new age & instrumental music fan, I couldn't skip my eyes when I read about Mehdi & its recommendation on Amazon.com. So I bought myself Mehdi Volume 6 & 7 to hear if it's really good.
The first time I pop the CD in my player, playing the "Heaven" track and heard the intro, I instantly liked it. But after playing the song for a while, I realised that it's...

5.0 out of 5 stars A TRULY SUBLIME ARTIST!, July 13, 2004

This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
Mehdi is a most captivating artist who stands out in a class of his own! Being the owner of a large collection of New Age music, I find myself returning repeatedly to his music, in which to find peace and relaxation. I have all seven of his volumes, with Volume 7 being my favorite. That is not to say that his other volumes are any less enjoyable. Each volume is unique in it's own way, as is each track in every volume. There is nothing repetitious in Mehdi's music, and that is one of the reasons that he stands above the rest. That shows what a true artist he is, that he is able to create such an unending repertoire of melodies.

His music flows and weaves through you and around you like a warm, gentle waterfall. It has you floating on a soft cloud of pleasure, and takes you to mystical places in your mind, where you will experience ultimate relaxation, as you absorb this other-worldly music. I can't say enough about Mehdi, but I will say, that I highly recommend all his music to anyone who is looking for something "off the beaten path" of New Age music!

I decided to buy his music based upon other Mehdi music reviewers, and I must say, I was definitely steered in the right direction! I can only hope that Mehdi puts out much more of this beautiful music in the future!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Ethereal Odyssey of Body, Mind and Soul, June 16, 2004
This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
"Love is the scent of flowers in the spring. It is the silent choirs of petals. Love is the song of the soul, singing to God."

Mehdi's music is striking in its depths and ecstatic in its heights. The poem alone is worth the price of the CD. Mehdi can mean "the divinely guided one" or "flower." If you can find some Nag Champa fragranced candles, it will heighten the listening experience.

This music dances around your soul coaxing you from the depths of your physical form. Mehdi's music makes you drift someplace between earth and heaven. Volume 7: Instrumental Heaven tempts you to escape your daily existence and experience a dreamy state of ecstatic peace. Your mind runs free where your soul longs to wander.

Heaven is interesting in its ability to create a longing for the eternal. The music sweeps forward and twists back and then surges forward again like the symbol of eternity. The blending of Piano, Live Orchestral Strings, Solo Violin, Cello, Flute, Guitar, Japanese Taiko Drums and Hammered Dulcimer is captivating and nurturing. Volume 7 is uplifting and "Flowers of Spring" is especially magical.

Full Moon brings in some of the more primal deep night elements and Clouds of Light has an otherworldly signature. In "Rain" you can almost hear drops of rain splashing on stone. If you imagine a flute player sitting beneath large trees and rain drops dripping and splashing on stones near a river, that is what "Rain" sounds like.

I think the reason this music is so beautiful is because it produces a floating "in love" feeling otherwise known as paradise. Mehdi's music invites you to focus on the moment all while your soul intertwines with the eternal in a dizzying dance of notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is The One, November 8, 2004
This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
Regardless of when these songs were created, they are TIMELESS. The entire blend is a wonderful one -- the instrumentals are enchanting & haunting at the same time. The music is both relaxing and/or invigorating as well -- depending on your mood. I enjoy this CD when driving, resting, or during my own artistic efforts. In fact, a creative person may find, as I have, that these melodies enhance the creative process. This music blends effortlessly with your life, enhancing it. The melodies make you want to sing with them. I can't recommend this CD highly enough. If you like quality instrumental music this CD is a must for your collection.

I'm going to start by spending heap of praise upon one of my favorite musicians to listen to when I am need of relaxation. Yes, Medhi is new age which people immediately want to lump in with Yanni and John Tesh, but you've got to believe me when I say that he is so much more than that. I'm not saying that I listen to him to bore myself to sleep, I have other albums that do that quite nicely; I am saying that when I put on an Medhi album I can actually feel tension leaving my body. It's not droning space music, but full bodied pretty music with real players and live instruments that speaks to your very being and no,there aren't any vocals.

One of the situations that I find solace in his music is when I am having dental work done. I hate going to the dentist, mostly because I have weak teeth that crack and break and I am constantly having major work done. The only two albums that I listen to at the dentist to relax me are Secret Garden and a Medhi, as a side note, both are absolutely amazing when under the influence of nitrous oxide, trust me. What can I say? His music works for me. To each their own.

The music itself draws you into another state of mind entirely. I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong about this album, I only know how I feel listening to it. If you don't have the other Medhi albums there would certainly be nothing wrong with picking this one up since you really can't go wrong with any of his volumes. By the way, they are all nicely done and relaxingly different.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is very good, November 4, 2004
This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
I bought this album because of the majority of strong reviews that it received. I can now say that I wasn't disappointed at all. Mehdi has elements of classical, celtic, and new age in their music. Their music is so sweet. I swear when I was listening to some of the songs I couldn't believe that we have such beautiful music in this world. Listen to the samples and if you like it then buy it without thinking. Strongly Recommended !

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and filled with emotion, August 23, 2004
This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
I found Mehdi via Amazon, looking for something similar to Loreena McKinnet's instrumentals. Never mind the one or two reviewers who label this as elevator music. A cheap rendition of Copa Cabana fills that category, and Mehdi is nowhere near that end of the spectrum. Any song from Mehdi's collection is in itself unique and colorful. The music flows softly, allowing you to use it for any occasion: reading, studying, writing, dinner parties, driving, etc. I've even used it for background music while on the computer. It is soothing, calming, and brings to mind your own images of what each note represents to you, personally. I describe it as a soundtrack for your life. Since I found several songs on each cd sample I liked, I went ahead and bought the gift set. It's worth every penny and all of them are unique. Once you hear these melodies, Mehdi will not fail to accompany your every adventure.

My favorite song on this CD is Full Moon. I kept trying to make an MP3 file for the song, but I always got distortion, even with decent speakers or headphones. I think this symbolizes the music. It is reaching to be something very rich and substantial.

New Age music covers a lot of ground. I have 700 songs that I just play randomly, and there are a lot of Mehdi songs in the mix. He has grown, through the years.

In terms of instrumentation or style, there is nothing 'out there'. It's straight music, nothing that is overly dependent on technology or whatever. At its best, the music has a majesty to it, but it's haunting kind of majesty.

There are some people in the New Age category producing the best music out there. Mike Jones, Kern, Gunn, Llewellyn, Goodall, and Adorney, to name a few.

I remember saying Coldplay would be 'it' when "In My Place" came out. So I'm not saying New Age is good stuff in total isolation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Haunting, Beautiful and Just Perfect..., November 5, 2004
This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
Where do I start? This cd is arguably on of the best instrumentals I have ever heard, each track is wonderfully arranged; harmonising the piano and cello flawlessly. Mehdi has definitely created a masterpiece. Each track flows to the next like a changing season. I especially like listening to it in the car, when the traffic gets hectic I throw it on and feels the stress melt away. If you like music that creates an image in your mind's eye, then this is the cd for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Music !, November 21, 2004
This review is from: Instrumental Heaven Volume 7 (Audio CD)
I recently bought this item in online, and when it arrived in the post I played it straight away and was amazed. I had listened to some of Mehdi's music on low quality MMJB radio, but in CD quality it was absolutely stunning. The beauty of heaven, the passion of rain and the grand melody of clouds of light which stays in your head for days, all combine to create a brilliant album. The only thing that I could say I didn't like was the cover art, but then again it's very hard to describe a transition to heaven with a picture.
