A DJ's perspective..., August 12, 2004

I'm a DJ and love to play for dancers. I own a large collection of tango music and am always trying to get the best quality copy of a song that I can. Not an easy feat when you consider most of the music is over 50 years old and the master copies were destroyed! This album of Pugliese instrumentals from the '40's is great music for dancing. Unfortunately they are not the best transfers! They're OK, but a lot of the life of the music has been filtered out in order to eliminate record noise. I much prefer the album "Recuerdo" which doesn't have all the heavy filtering done. Yes you get a little noise and distortion with "Recuerdo", but you get all the life of the music. Still this instrumentals album is an essential album to have in your tango collection.
