Product Description

nsuladd® insulating paint additive has been making homes, businesses, warehouses, ships, etc. more energy efficient for over a decade. Homeowners and building contractors have proven Insuladd paint additive is not only highly effective in making insulating paint, it's simple to use for ay homeowner. Worldwide users of Insuladd® insulating additive such as the Climatic Test Branch of the U.S. Missile Command, Pratt & Whitney Aerospace, Hyundai, Samsung, The U.S. Navy, The U.S. Coast Guard along with 1,000's of homeowners have proven Insuladd's value as an insulating paint additive under the most intense conditions. The Insuladd® insulating paint additive has unique energy saving properties that reflect, resist, and dissipate heat. The hollow ceramic microspheres reflective quality affects the warming phenomenon called "Mean Radiant Temperature," where heat waves from a source such as direct sunlight cause a person to feel warmer even though the actual air temperature is no different between a shady and sunny location. It is the molecular friction within the skin caused by the sun's radiant energy waves which makes the body feel warmer. For paint projects in your home, Insuladd® insulating additive is available in kits containing from one to 25 pouches. Just mix one pouch of Insuladd® to one gallon of paint purchased from your neighborhood store. For those larger and commercial projects, Insuladd® ceramic paint additive is available in "Contractor Jugs" which is the appropriate size for mixing Insuladd into five gallon pails to make insulating paint out of your ordinary paint.

Living in S Texas the summers are very hot and the utility bill can be outrageous. Already painted 3 rooms with this additive and the a/c hasn't run as hard and the upstairs feels much better. It was very easy to mix it into the paint and painted just as I would normally. I was concerned it would make it more difficult as it wasn't at all. I am anxious to see how much I save on my electric bill. So far I am very impressed with the results. Will definitely buy more and continue with the whole house.

I don't know how this product works but it does work. My home is cinderblock and brick with no insulation. I painted the outside walls in two bedrooms and now when I touch those walls they are no longer cold. I intend to do the rest of the outside walls in my home.

I live in Florida and decided to give Insuladd a try on my porch roof. The roof is metal and typically the temperature on the porch is over 100 degrees. It lowered the temp by about 10 degrees. I was thrilled and bought more to coat the rest of the roof. I added the Insuladd to a product called Siliconizer which I bought at Home Depot (in the roofing section). I also added a mildewcide. I highly recommend this product. The results exceeded my expectations. My AC doesn't need to run as often so that will probably last longer. I used a roller to apply it. Great product!

This is the bomb!!! It works great! The Insuladd beads are so small they're like very fine granulated gray powder you add to your paint. It doesn't change your color either. Although I didn't have a temperature recorder, we could really feel the difference after painting with this additive and noticed our AC unit was turning on as often. I actually recommended it to our property management company for other renters who wanted ways to insulate and lower their utility bills but are not allowed to do anything to their units. We noticed a minimum $45 difference the month after we applied it. For the first time the whole year our bill dropped below $100.00 on a fluctuating usage bill per month!!!! NO JOKE. We did nothing else but put a couple coats on our upstairs loft wall that was adjacent to our very hot attic. We have some left so we may paint the other side of the wall of the attic as well for added insulation. We plan on buying more and adding it to ALL of our paint for ALL of our rooms to see how much lower our AC and heating bills will get lol So once we noticed the difference, we went further by switching our utility provider to a cheaper one and locking in low rates and our recent bill was shockingly just about $60 with taxes and fees included so this sure helped save us some money. My hubby is very happy as he is the one paying the bills.

I created a video review to show how the Insuladd product stacks up to just using white paint on the exterior. In my case I was applying the product on a flat cement roof that was previously coated with a red paint. In theory this additive should be fantastic. It works through reflective (not insulating) properties. The product name (INSULadd INSULATING Paint Additive) just adds confusion to the science behind it. Insulating is something like fiberglass insulation in an attic. It slows the movement of heat (in or out). Reflective would be something more akin to placing the sunshade in your car window. It reflects radiant heat, which keeps your car cooler. This product contains ceramic beads which do not slow the heat, but rather reflect it, thus this is a reflective product.

In repainting my red roof, I chose to repaint it white and reduce the absorbed heat (white has higher reflectivity than red). I also chose to purchase enough Insuladd to treat two layers of paint as recommended. I was hoping for a double impact of reflectivity though the use of white paint and this product.

During the re-coating process I decided to do an experiment and record the results. I compared the original paint (red) with white paint and white paint with Insuladd. This video is a specific use case, but I think worth pondering if you are thinking of purchasing this product. If you want to jump right to the results you can go to 1:10 in the video.

There is no way I know the heat blocking effect until summer comes. So no rating on that yet. As far as how well Insuladd comingle with the paint, I have to say you should consider using it with dark color flat paint, otherwise it will dominate and take the shine (such as satin or semi-gloss) away and you can see it obviously on white paint at certain angle. The surface you painted won't be as good looking as you expect. So keep this issue in mind when you buy it. I end up diluting it further to make a finished surface look a little more smooth.

I actually tested the product and found it works, but the real insuladd (from the company, insuladd.com) works even better!!! What I did is painted 3 sides (2 coats) of medium size boxes from home depot with white paint. I printed the front side, top, and side that was facing the sun. Than took a thermal gun and measured the inside floor of the box on a hot day (temperature about 90 degrees), The non-coat measured 103, insuladd amazon measured 101, real insuladd measured 96...a 7 degree drop vs amazon only 3 degree drop!!! For comparison, I measured another additive called coolcoat and it measured 99. Thus, insuladd was the best. For reference on how color it affects the results, I did the same as above except used dark red paint. Results: non coat 104, amazon 103, coolcoat 102, insuladd 100. Thus, even insuladd with dark red did better than white without no additive. For reference, I measured the outside surface of the box because some youtube claims the temperature is the same on the outside and thus means insuladd doesn't work. And yes I found that same thing, white paint on the outside surface was 112 degree for all....147 for dark red. Thus, measuring the outside surface is wrong science.!!!
