I'm very impressed with the customer service!

I have tried washing it in regular hot water & detergent, and soaked it with baking soda and warm water, but there is a lingering odor that I can't shake.
Wildflowersoul
It is great stainless steel interior coupled with the safer plastics.

I decided it was time to buy an insulated sippy cup now that my 13-month old daughter is drinking whole milk all the time. I'm not sure why they don't make more cups like this one, but I guess most people are satisfied with using the plastic sippies. I was ok with that until I was having to stop at any and every convenience store every time I was out to get a small bottle of milk to refill or replace the warm milk. Plus plastic isn't good for the environment and doesn't keep liquids cold very long, so I felt better switching to the stainless steel cup. I got this cup after I realized the thermos foogoo straw cup that I was already ordering was for older kids, so I added the Eco Vessel cup to the order as a solution for right now. If you're still reading, here comes the important part: this is a well-made cup, but with some quirks. I knew from one of the other reviews that the spout might not line up with the handles on the cup. Such was the case with my cup, which made it awkward for my daughter to drink out of, even though she liked the cup right away. I called the 800 number on the tag that came on the cup (which you shouldn't throw away, because other than arriving in a nondescript white box, that's the only information that comes with it). I was connected to customer service and spoke to a nice (American-yay!) customer service representative who told me that the green spout is removable. The spout is supposed to line up with the stars on the lid, but mine didn't. He told me that you can just pull out the spout, which I proceeded to do and then centered it in the middle of the two handles on the bottle. I never would have guessed that the spout came out. Also, the little plastic stopper on the bottom can come off to be cleaned, but leave it on to keep liquids from leaking.Read more ›

It's true that this cups smells so bad no matter how hard you wash and or scrub.
The problem lies on the inside where the silver liner meets the orange handle. Since the connection is not fused or joined, it creates a cavity where milk residue sits and is physically impossible to wash.
I wish I would have listed to the reviews...

It doesn't leak, it doesn't leach chemicals, and it's so cute and durable! Unfortunately, the top rim where the orange part meets the stainless steel on the inside has a gap, and drinks (milk ewwww) gets stuck in there. No matter how much I wash it I can't get it out. Why? Because when the cup is upside down, the milk/drink goes into that gap, and when I put it Right side up, it goes back into the cup. I can't get it out!!!! It's starting to stink at the rim where the buildup is. I've tried using the dishwasher, a scrubbing brush, anything to clean it and no luck. Otherwise this would be a great leak proof cup for kids who don't use regular cups yet.

I ordere these sippy cups along with the safe sippy and the foogo stainless steel sippy in my search for the perfect leak-free sippy cup that was also stainless steel. These, of the three, were my least favorite. The avent top has holes in the spout for getting liquid out and then one single hole on the opposite end of the led for releasing pressure. Every. Single. Time. my toddler took a sip, milk 'volcanoed' out of the single hole on the back of the spout. There is a silicone flap inside the sippy that regulates how much milk comes out and whatever is left in that flap after you child is done sucking comes out of that hole. Some reviews say that it depends on how tight you twist the lid - so I tried to not tighten it as much as I normally would. This did decrease how much came out of the hole but then it leaked from the neck.

Overall, the Foogo sippy cup is your best bet in terms of leakage.

I don't know how many stainless steal sippy cups I have tried at this point. To Many! Why is it so hard to find a stainless steal sippy cup that doesn't leak?

I ordered this cup and the "Safe Sippy"by Kid Basix Tried them both today and the Safe Sippy leaks if you slightly shake it. So that one is immediately going back.

The "insulated sippy" by Eco Vessel isn't leaking at all.

Can't say if either keeps liquids cold for long as I haven't gotten to test that yet. Will update my review once I get to test how well this cup keeps liquids cold.

One thing I am a bit disappointed in is that this must be hand washed! That kinda stinks!

I got this and one other brand of insulated sippy cup, as I needed something that would keep milk cold in a lunch box for half a day. While it does provide the needed insulation, my one major problem with it is: it's stinky. I have tried washing it in regular hot water & detergent, and soaked it with baking soda and warm water, but there is a lingering odor that I can't shake. It's enough to be a significant deterrant to using it, and I am planning on giving it away to a more eco-friendly mom. I also find that I prefer a cup that can go in the dishwasher, and this cup can't.

This cup is heavy and hard for my 1 1/2 year old to use. It leaks like crazy. For this price I really didn't expect either of these things. I wanted something to keep milk cold while we are out and about. You will have a gigantic mess if you give this to your child with something other than water in it.
