5.0 out of 5 stars A good Navy SEAL book!
If you like the Rogue Warrior series then this is the series for you. It is packed full of action and adventure. A great read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as other SEAL stories...
I've been a longtime reader of books on the SEAL Teams, both fiction and fact. While this book did have some excellent moments and the characters stayed true to themselves, I can only really give it an average grade. The writing didn't truly grab me, and the characters, at times, seemed more like cardboard cutout supermen. At times, they didn't have any depth, and seemed...

4.0 out of 5 stars A New Page-Turner, January 12, 2000
If you like international intrigue and slick operations, this is for you. All I ask from an adventure book is that the author know his subject and that it make me want to turn the page. Both of these score big-time with me. I really liked it.

I thought this was a delightful read. Great for a few hours of escapism and adventure. I particularly liked the action and all the detail that went ]into the Navy SEAL training and missions. It made you feel like you were swimming alongside them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Navy SEALs is an Must Read, February 17, 2000

After reading a large selection of books on mystery and supense, I have to give this a good rating. This is one right up there with Tom Clancy's OP-Center books. If you like military action, get this book.

Personally, I would suggest Marcinko's Rogue Warrior and Keith Douglass' Seal Team Seven over this series. Marcinko's stories may be somewhat unbelievable and a bit egotistical, but they're fun. ST7's characters have a bit more depth to them, and do not come across as nigh invulnerable.

5.0 out of 5 stars navy seals ; the real deal, January 25, 2000
By A Customer
After reading many books on the navy seals, I have to say "insurrection red" by mike murray is a cut above the rest! His plot and characterization are great, and the inside details of seal team 6 are real. His writing style is similar to the rogue warrior books but better.

1.0 out of 5 stars navy seals insurrection red, May 29, 2000
I was very disappointed with this book...I believe that the lay out of it was set up good but the events of what was going on was really bad. I was looking for something along the lines of like seal team seven books. But this one was a big waste of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining, March 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I found these series of books to be surprisingly fun. I had little expectations when I picked this book off the library shelf. The SEALs in this book are kind of scoundrels, which is a refreshing and fun change from the consummate silent professionals they are often depicted as in other books. I'm sure that both stereotypes are accurate at times, but this is just a fun side to see. Like a peek behind the curtain of the camaraderie of the SEAL brotherhood.

There's a lot of action, a lot of humor. The book doesn't get melodramatic or overly emotional, but that feels right given the stoic nature of these sailors. A fair amount of technical jargon (all explained for the uninitiated, no fears) that adds to the "being there" feel of the book.

But mostly I just like the way Mr. Murray writes his characters. They feel very much like real guys.

There are some flaws with the book, a lot of stuff that a halfway decent proofreader should have caught (characters called by the wrong name, etc.). All of Mike Murray's books that I've read have had this problem, but I still enjoy his books and wish he'd write more! Also, I wish I could get this on my Kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars Murray is not serious, right?, January 31, 2011
A book about Navy Seals turning on one of their own and going all out to assasinate him? Some unidentified Joe approaches a Navy Seal, gives him some money and tells him to assassinate an HVT, but don't tell your other team members? And he does it? He does it without even verifying who Joe is or who he works for? Come on. It was a decent read but the storyline bordered on totally ridiculous. NO, I take that back. The storyline WAS totally ridiculous.

I am so hooked on these books it's crazy. I have now read the series twice and am waiting for the next book to come out. This series would make a GREAT movie.

Anyone who loves action packed military books with tons of surprises will love this series. I highly highly recommend these books to everyone who loves being entertained intelligently!
