4.0 out of 5 stars good option for those without component inputs
I purchased this cable because I have an older TV that has S-video inputs, but no component inputs. The cable has a Wii A/V plug on one end, and on the other, it has S-video, composite video, and left and right RCA audio outputs. Some sites on the internet claim that it has digital audio, but that's not the case. After plugging it into the S-video input on my TV, there's...

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor Injection Molds
I have a projector that only takes a limited number of inputs, including s-video but not the Wii's normal component output. After some digging around on the net, I decided to try out Intec's solution; keeping the number of steps between A/V pieces to a minimum is usually best. Unfortunately, the first cable I received didn't fit into the projector input at all (and then...

After plugging it into the S-video input on my TV, there's a small but noticible improvement in the quality of the video from the Wii.

The only downside to it is that the plugs are rather fat (there's a lot of plastic around the tips), so if your TV or receiver's input jacks are in a narrow location, it might be a tight fit, or the plug might not fit at all.

I have an older A/V receiver with s-video and an A/V switcher connected to it. I needed an s-video cable for the Wii since I could not use component; I finally found this one. Works great and picture looks good too. Good price for this product.

This review is from: Intec 8' AV And S-Video Cable For Nintendo Wii (Video Game)
I have a projector that only takes a limited number of inputs, including s-video but not the Wii's normal component output. After some digging around on the net, I decided to try out Intec's solution; keeping the number of steps between A/V pieces to a minimum is usually best. Unfortunately, the first cable I received didn't fit into the projector input at all (and then the company I bought it from - Efunctional - tried to tell me I didn't know what an s-video connection was instead of just proceeding with a faulty materials exchange, but we'll skip their disdain for customers here).

I received the second cable - and it still didn't fit. I started looking into other solutions but just got bored and gave up for a few months. Console gaming's not a necessity for me. Today, I decided I should either figure out the cable or just sell off the Wii. Since it was long past the limit for making an exchange, I took my knife to various pieces of the cable and lo and behold, some plastic whittling ended up being all that was required. Three things: the plastic prong within the s-video connection is too large; I shaved off the edges and corners at the end, and it now fits without a hitch. The depth of the metal is too shallow for it to hold in place when plugged in, so I pruned the plastic around it back by several millimeters, and now it will hold. Lastly, the jumbo-sized grips around every component are far too wide for your average stereo system; trying to plug in both L and R plugs would be like two cars trying to drive through a one-lane tunnel side-by-side: forcing them to fit means something's going to break. I shaved off the sides and squared them so both could fit.

In short, the metal, functional part of the cable is fine; the plastic trimmings obscure it. The injection moulds need to be reined in to something more subdued so they'll actually fit in normal electronics. If you have the time, cut off all the plastics and make a few choice circumcisions on the s-video male, and things will work. It would be much nicer if it just came that way.

Great cable and resolution - but its not BLACK!!!

S-video will send the highest resolution (480p) to your TV. The yellow video cable does not supprt 480p.

Since I didn't have an EDTV or an HDTV, This cable is the next best thing to a higher quality picture with older television sets with an s-video input.
