I purchased this chipper for my mother. She really liked her last one, but we couldn't find it so I bought this one for her to try. She absolutely loves it. It has improved her short game considerably. She feels it's so much more sturdy and the construction is by far better than her last one. She has taken 2 -3 strokes off her game and couldn't be happier. Now her friends in her foursome during league play keep asking her if they can borrow it.

I saw the other reviews and saw the price. I figured I had nothing to lose. I LOVE this approach chipper. I used it today and I guarantee I shaved 3 or 4 strokes off my game. I sank two putts from off the green using it today. I honestly would pay 5x as much for this club if I had to replace it and was forced to.
My buddy tried it today as well and is going to be ordering one. Very sweet club. Takes the potential of a bad chip out of the picture. Instead, use a normal putting stroke. It pops up just enough to clear any rough, lands on the green with a bit of a back spin so it doesn't go shooting past. If you are hesitant, just get it. Seriously. Its $12.99 and well worth it. You can thank me later.

I was having a hard time breaking 90 and getting into the 80's because of my poor game around the greens. I found myself blading my gap & lob wedges way to often which really messed with my confidence inside of 60 yards. I went out on a limb and purchased a 2 way approach chipper. The first round I played with it was a learning experience, but I still felt like I had a better chance of getting the ball in or near the whole with this club. I have since played 10 or 11 rounds and LOVE this club. I recorded my first EAGLE with this club from about 30 yards out. It has totally changed my short game and even been a huge help when under trees and needing to punch the ball into the fairway(I even used this club to get out of a firm, shallow sand trap last round I played). I have successfully used this club from up to 75 yards from the flag. I know these clubs are frowned upon by teaching pros and golf purists, but I cannot justify using my gap or lob wedge in most cases anymore. I will still learn to use my gap & lob on the range and while playing alone, but I will continue to use the chipper when I am playing against friends & co-workers until my gap & lob wedge offer me similar results. If you struggle with your short game in any way I bet you will lower your score using this or any other similar chipper.
The best part for me is that I have scored an 89 & 88 since I bought this club a month ago. BEST $15 I HAVE SPENT ON GOLF EQUIPMENT EVER, HANDS DOWN!!!!

Handy and effective but not a long-term solution,

There's nothing more frustrating (aside from the crucial first-hole drive) than playing a ball in a sand trap next to the green, using the proper sand wedge, taking the recommended full swing--but hitting the ball square and watching it fly a hundred yards over the green. A good drive and approach to the green nullified/cancelled/rendered futile by a hopeless short game.
The short game is where the grace, the finesse, the "aesthetics" of golf come into play--but few of us are "artists." So rather than risk clobbering the ball over the green with each of your high-number, short-game clubs, why not use a club that simply enables you to "putt" your way to the hole from anywhere that's within 50 yards out? Why not? Well, maybe because it's a violation of the rules; it's not very aesthetic (more like playing croquet); it certainly violates the "unwritten" rules and form of the game. (Imagine a baseball player confronting a 100 mph fast ball with a Titanium tennis racquet instead of a wooden bat.) But if all you want to do is lower your score and frustration, this may be the most practical answer--until, of course, you've got some confidence, along with the necessary skills, to play a respectable short game. [The price is so low I neglected to take advantage of the 20% off for Visa customers--even though I was using the necessary card. Whether it's golf or "deals," I just can't compete.] [2nd caveat: as a preceding reviewer points out, "switch-hitting" clubs like this are not USGA-approved. So Tiger wannabes should probably spend a dollar or two more on the proper RH or LH chipper.] [3rd "semi" caveat: I realize that at this price point golf clubs are bound to be "generic," but I'm somewhat disappointed not to see the name "Intech" anywhere on or near the club. It did come with a name (not "Generic"), but I'm not about to reopen the shipping box to find out what it is.]

Not USGA Approved,

This club will definately help higher handicap golfers in a recreational round of golf, but be aware that it is not USGA approved for tournament or league play because it has two faces on it and can therefor be hit right or left handed. If you want a chipper to use all the time, buy one with only a single face and you'll always be legal.

I have had a chipper (single face) for many years whilst upgrading irons and woods a few times over the years this is always in my bag next to my putter
The purist HATE it but I use it around the greens/out of rough/sometimes in bunkers/to go get back in play off hard or stony ground so as not to damage more expensive clubs/and play it full swing as long as an 8 iron.so there you are!.

awsome, utility club for bad and awkward positions on the course, use left or right hand, comes in handy if you are on the wrong side of a tree or hazard, not for eveyrone, but it should be part of the bag.

I have a so called chipper but the club length is for a 6 iron. I use my pitching wedge as a chipper because of the shorter club length. This chipper has the club length of a putter. I tried it and for up to about 10 yards (guesstimate) I stroke the ball like I would with a putter and it gets the ball up all the time without digging into the turf. Over 10 yards I noticed that I need to stroke the ball like I would with a short iron used as a chipper. It also does not dig into the turf.
I think I will improve my chipping with this new chipper. I give it 5 stars.

Accurate chipping near the green,

This chipper is saving me 4 to 5 strokes a round. It's easy to hit accurate shots from the short grass surrounding the green. I'm getting most shots close enough to the hole for a sinkable putt, and in my last round I chipped from about 12 yards off the green into the hole for a birdie. I find it to be more difficult in deep rough, so I'm sticking to my sand wedge until I get more practice with the chipper. But for the fringe and the first cut within about 15 yards of the green, this club rules.

10 yards off the green this club is a game saver for me so far. It's like being able to putt out of the rough. I've used it twice and have already taken a few strokes off my game without having any practice time with it. This club has kept the PW in my bag at that distance, and that is a VERY good thing for me.
At this price if it doesn't work out you can always just give it away to another duffer who may get some use out of it. |
