This is the Chinese textbook series that my university uses. As the second year textbook, this book doesn't contain pinyin transcription alongside the characters in each chapter. The expectation is that students should start using pinyin less and learn to read characters exclusively. Instead of pinyin, it has both traditional and simplified characters for every reading, vocabulary, and grammar section. The topics in this textbook are similar to the topics in the first year textbook, but with vastly expanded vocabulary, and more grammatical and cultural information.

The book feels like a step up from teh previous books in this series. At first glance after reading through the last book in the series, it felt a bit overwhelming with the increased emphasis on characters including the introduction of some traditional characters. However, the book takes you through the characters slowly and pretty well as the others in the series. It's a decent book for continuing to learn Chinese.

Great Chinese Textbook,

I used this book for an advanced introduction to Chinese course at my university. This textbook's choice of vocabulary and sentence structures are amazing and incredibly useful. It's well organized into chapters, and my Chinese improved quickly. Since each chapter revolves around certain topics, though, my Chinese in topics not covered did not improve by much. However, I believe that some grammar sections, such as those on the le particle, are confusing and out of place in certain chapters. I also found a few simplified Chinese characters in the traditional Chinese section in each chapter, but these mistakes rarely become an issue if you're careful. This book would be especially useful for people who hope to learn both simplified and traditional Chinese.

Really Good Book For Learning Chinese,

This review is from: Integrated Chinese: Level 2, Part 1 (Simplified and Traditional Character) Textbook (Chinese Edition) (Paperback)
This book is very organized. Has 10 chapters There's a generous amount of vocab to learn that is useful and very commonly used in everyday Chinese. The topics of the passages are very relative to China's society today. Very enjoyable too. I just wish there was a level 3 and 4 series to it.
