An overly comprehensive mess,

This review is from: Integrated Pharmacology: With Student Consult Access (INTEGRATED PHARMACOLOGY (PAGE)) (Paperback)
There is good information here, but the layout and design of the book make most of it inaccessible. A typical chapter will open with some basic anatomy, physiology, and relevant cellular information. Then the writers will move into descriptions of diseases and drugs, and the text turns to a mess of drug description and history, random disease statistics, recommended drug doses, etc.--indeed, all of this information is good to know, but the presentation is atrocious. For example, some drugs will have their adverse effects nicely labeled and easy to find. Other drugs will have them buried in a long paragraph that may or may not be relevant. The writing is halting, jumping from concept to concept without regard for the reader. The charts and graphics are far clearer than the writing.
The text is too comprehensive for its own good. In trying to shove everything into the text, the writers have dispensed with presenting a solid and clear understanding of basic pharmacology. |
