4.0 out of 5 stars Good book for Zoological Studies, February 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
To be honest, I haven't used the book yet, but I did thumb through it to write this review. I know this probably isn't overly helpful, but from my quick read of the book, I can make a few comments.
1. While the subject is somewhat collegiate, the textbook resembles an upper-level high school bio, or perhaps freshman in college bio, difficulty in its organization and presentation, and it seems rather comprehensive and unfocused. This does make the book easier to read, but makes me wonder how helpful it will be for my Biology 376 course, a class that is taken by Biology majors in their 3rd year.
2. While the organization of the book is somewhat sophomoric, as noted above, it is broken up into manageable chunks with meaningful headings and full-color pictures and diagrams seem quite prevalent.
3. On the topic of pictures and diagrams, I have found that many biology books seem to place these things somewhat randomly and sporadically, or the picture is on a different page than the text which discusses it (very frustrating). This book, however, seems to have pictures only when they are needed, as for the latter part of the previous sentence, I can only assume that less pictures means the picture and description will end up on the same page more often than not. Though again, I haven't read the book, so I can't say for sure, but the few I looked at lined up nicely.

Overall, great book for any class that is studying zoology and animal biology, but it seems rather comprehensive, so if you need a more specific or focused text, I would look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars as described, January 11, 2012

My book got here on time, and it was as described. However, when said that corners worn to boards, I didn't realize that the edges of the book were going to be frayed. It's nothing a tape job can't fix up, though! Over all, product in good condition. But the condition details should be good, and not very good. I was a little mislead.
