Key Benefit: Integration methods should be based in both learning theory and teaching practice. Integration should match specific teaching and learning needs. Old integration strategies are not necessarily bad; new strategies are not necessarily good. Using these three premises as a foundation, this book presents effective theory-and research-based strategies for integrating technology resources and technology-based methods into everyday classroom practices. It is written from the teacher's perspective, making it ideal for both novice and experienced computer users. Key Topics: Unique coverage of integrating technology into specific content areas in Part IV demonstrates how to use technology to teach language arts, social studies, science, math, music, art, phys ed/health, and special education, rather than just providing generic strategies. Market: For practicing teachers and computer users.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I have found the text to be very insightful and informative regarding new technologies for the classroom.  I thoroughly enjoyed the addition of computer integration in the content areas in chapters 9-15.  MyEducationLab really sealed the deal for me as an instructor.  After exploring this site, I found out that my other text was leaving me in the dark with just the basic test bank and PowerPoints.  MyEducationLab is a great resource for both instructor and students!"

- Tim Humphrey, Lincoln Land Community College

"MyEducationLab complements the textbook.  If I were teaching a strictly online class, I would have my students using this section extensively.  The videos were not too long, informative and the added feature of typing the dialogue was a necessity.  We use webquest.org in my class as well.  I'm glad to see that was included.  The weblinks are invaluable!  This book is such a refreshing change from the book we are using now (Shelly/Cashman).  It probably would be one of the textbooks that a soon-to-be teacher would hold onto and consult as often as needed!  Definitely a keepr!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent textbook presentation, February 23, 1999

This book is an excellent resource for teachers and schools looking to train teachers in the use of educational technology. The focus is not using technology for technology's sake, but integrating technology into the classroom. A very balanced approach--technology is used to enhance education and motivate students, it will not improve education just by simply bringing it into your classroom. Probably equally as good for teaching a college course.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great author, June 28, 2009

I used a book of Roblyers for a MA class and again for a Dr. class from different schools. A very well published author. Good information. Does an excellent job of staying updated through editions (which you need to when writing about technology!).
