Book Description

Integrative Medicine: Natural Solutions and Home Remedies for Anxiety, Depression and ADHD challenges the biological theories of cause and treatment surrounding the most prevalent mental health issues in the United States. The book aims to open readers' minds to both the shortcomings of medication and the great potential and variety of natural treatment approaches for anxiety, depression and ADHD.

If you live in the U.S., there's a 1 in 5 chance you take medication for a mental health issue. Almost 10% of our children are diagnosed with ADHD, and more than half of those are prescribed medication. The book proposes several cultural factors contributing to mental disorder and provides readers with information on treatments that address those factors head-on as opposed to merely covering up the symptoms.

The treatments discussed in this book range from evidence-based psychotherapies to simple self-help strategies that put the tools for changing the way you think and feel into your own hands. Whether you're looking to avoid, supplement, decrease or end the role of drugs in your life, Integrative Medicine has something to offer you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative June 18, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was filled with great advice. I read it twice already. I have read a few other books about this topic and none of them had as much information as this book did. I would recommend to anyone looking for remedies to try this book out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful perspective July 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Without bashing our current medical culture, this author promotes each person's responsibility to seek healing, not just medication. The style is coach like, thought provoking and non-traditional in approach.
Looking for a different perspective? Read on. Looking for a pat on the head? Look elsewhere.
Not as indepth as I'd like, but at least a good starting point for the intended audience.
