5.0 out of 5 stars The Integrity Alarm, June 16, 2000
By

This review is from: The integrity crisis (Hardcover)
An unmistakable rise is occurring in the number of ministers and ministries that fail. Staggering devastation and shaken faith are the results of careless behavior exhibited by Christian leaders. Men and women alike are earning our trust and breaking it, often with not hint of repentance. While distracting and disappointing to the people who are the Church (universal and local) we dare not collapse in a fit of dispair. Wiersbe approaches the embattled reputation of the church with candor and hope. Two myths that perpetuate a lack of integrity are sufficiently dismantled: 1) when ministers slip-up it does not affect me 2) popularity is an indicator of spiritual strength The author generously provides Biblical proof for the Church as a body where each part has a function and a unified purpose (I Corinthians 12). He then directs our attention to Jeremiah, Nehemiah and John the Baptist because they illustrate how unpopular serving God faithfully can be. These twelve chapters are a current and highly instructive alarm for believers. We are capable and responsible to practice integrity. Wiersbe's illustrations are clear while his suggestions are thoughtful and compelling. The study guide provides an excellent source for group study and review. The Integrity Crisis is an essential tool for reflecting the true image of a comfortable Church.

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Alert!, February 24, 2009

A. Reum (Montana, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Integrity Crisis/Expanded Edition With Study Guide (Paperback)
"When religion is popular, popularity is the most important part of your religion , and you will have to compromise to maintain it." Warren Wiersbe.

Warren Wiesrbe's, The Integrity Crisis might now be considered an old book but reading it today one realizes that the message is pertinent and powerful. The Crisis Wiersbe refers to is trust and integrity in the Ministry. He discusses some highly visible failures but the reader soon realizes that the TV preacher isn't the only one that can scar the believers and scatter Christians quicker than a second morning offering!

Wiersbe not only ask but convincingly deals with the following questions; What Gospel is the church proclaiming? Who is accountable to whom? Who is controlling the direction of the church? How does the church measure the success of its leaders?

Perhaps the most powerful declaration within the pages of this book is one in which Wiersbe questions how the followers of Jesus Christ can so easily be duped by false prophets and cash famished pseudo pastors. His answer may startle you or vex your spirit and it may very well convict you.

Wiersbe's, The Integrity Crisis may have been published in the last century but the story reads straight out of today's Evangelical headlines. Pastor/Christian, the Body of Christ and many outside the faith are depending on your commitment and integrity to the true Gospel.

A great companion volume to the Integrity Crisis is Leith Anderson's, Dying for Change.
