This review is from: Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.40 GHz 3M L2 Cache 800MHz FSB Socket P Mobile Processor (Personal Computers)
I bought this to upgrade the Compaq Presario CQ60-417dx. Yes this is a relatively new(for now), yet budget model. Originally it came with the Celeron 900 (2.2ghz) which was fine, but as I started getting more attached to the laptop I wanted to do more with it. Started working more with video on this thing than I originally planned or wanted. I was able to find and download the manual for disassembling the Presario and with a little elbow grease was able to replace that Celeron. GREATLY improved my video work. The processor went right in. I had to reboot twice. Once to reset the BIOS and the second was warranted by Windows 7RC to install the processor. Since then I've had no bugs or hitches with the new processor. HWMonitor(CPUID) shows idle at 19C and load at 38C. And just in case you're into this...Windows 7 experience rating for the CPU went from 4.3 to 5.9. I giggle because all the original stickers(Intel Celeron Inside and Windows Vista Home Premium) are still on the palm rest and neither of those are on the machine at all any more. I've always built my own PCs but this is my first laptop that I've owned. Thinking about adding an OCZ Vertex SSD.... I like to tinker. Anyways, processor works geat and I would highly recommend for those that are brave enough to take apart their lappys.
