I upgraded my computer with this processor and it's been fine so far having been running for about a month. No complaint. Actually I need to praise this CPU because it significantly improved my game performance. I game with the gt 240 which was previously paired with the celeron e3300. Once I upgraded the processor I found out that the video card was being bottlenecked! Now I can play all Xbox 360/PS3 ports on high settings whereas before there was a good amount of stutter. For example, with Mirror's Edge, before I got 20-25 fps, now it's 40-50 fps, vast difference in playability. Same with Metro 2033. Both games running in 1080p by the way. I'm very happy my video card still packs some oomph thanks to the g1620.

I actually upgraded thinking it'd improve my GIS processing but I think my issue has to do more with my internet speed when buffering the basemaps, which if you are in this field at all you'd know the pain of waiting for maps to load.

Amazon had the best price for this CPU at the time of my purchase; if you can find this under $45, it's a bargain. Other things to note:

Online benchmark scores: E3300 ~ 1450; G1620 ~ 2750
In other words the G1620 rivals the high end Core 2 duo/quads

My rig: [mobo: biostar tz77a], [CPU: g1620 stock], [RAM: 6GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz], [GPU: GT 240 512MB GDDR5], [SSD: Kingston ssdnow 120GB]

I needed a cheap processor for my litecoin mining rig, and this one works perfectly.
It's low cost, and low power which is what I need for a litecoin rig since it doesn't use the processor for the tasks it performs 24/7.

I am using it for more than a month now. I don't watch movie or play any games on it. For my usage it is a perfect fit. I am running Ubuntu Linux on it and it always seems very fast.

Upgraded from a single core, about the same speed. Never thought much of the SpeedStep idea, but I like the way it works. Idles at about half speed, runs cool. Idle temp is about 87F, working is about 100F. Body temp is 98.6F so, it would feel cool to touch if you were to do so. Diff to compare cpu's when ram bandwith is also changed. DDR1 400 vs DDR3 1333 is a lot of diff. Tasks are done literally 10 times faster in comparison. Hope this helps someone.

I have this running in a dedicated Windows 7 server. It does a great job serving up a few games for the kids (JC2MP, Terraria, and KAG) while running Blue Iris IP camera software. However, since I started adding 3 Megapixel cameras, I have noticed the CPU usage sky rocket. But for around 40 bucks, this CPU can't be beat.

most people when they see the name celeron the turn away almost immediately, DO NOT TURN YOUR HEAD! this thing simply destroys every core 2 duo ever made. i matched this cpu up with a gt 640 for gaming games like Hawken, Tomb Raider, skyrim and many others play flawlessly.

if you are on a budget deffinetly get one of these price to performance ratio is almost unbeatable.

I've always been an avid AMD fan. I've built several pc's and used their graphics cards countless times. So i finally got out of my comfort zone and went with an intel built and WOW am I happy that I did. I bought this and a gigabyte mobo to replace an mini itx e-350 setup. It took my windows index from 3.8 processing power to 6.7 and I'm very happy with that!

I used this in a small htpc computer and am very impressed with it's performance, especially for the price. It outperforms my old core 2 quad and handles hd video playback flawlessly. Great solution for those with a limited budget.
