Overclockers Dream!,
This review is from: Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Dual-Core Processor, 2.6 GHz, 4M L2 Cache, LGA775 (Personal Computers)
Impressive! I bought this CPU together with 2Gigs of Kingston Hiper X DDR2 PC9600 1200Mhz Memory.
In order to get my ram running at the advertised 1200mhz speed from the stock speed of 800mhz, I had to overclock it along with the system FSB. I'm currently running this CPU at 3.2Ghz (from the 2.66ghz stock) and it glides along smooth as silk! Using a Scythe SCINF-1000 fan & Heatsink, I keep temperatures below 55 degrees on full load. Very impressive. I totally recommend this CPU over the much more expensive "Quad-Cores". With a little overclocking, you will find out that this little monster has a lot of hidden potential just waiting to be released!

There's no reason to buy this processor at this price anymore. While it was great when it came out, there's better available now. These are compatible with whatever motherboard will take an E6700, too. Try the E7200, Q6700, or others. Don't overspend on the FSB if your motherboard or RAM doesn't support it, but by all means, there's faster, cooler, cheaper processors out there now.

Finally I put together a shuttle box SD32G2 using an Intel CPU, E6700 conroe. I used 2 GIG of corsair twinx 8500C5 DDR2 and a modest video card
EVGA GeForce 7600 GT PCI-E. I overclocked my system to 3.2 GHZ. I had to bump up the core and ddr voltage slightly for the system to pass a 24 hour prime95 torture test. I'm running windows XP Pro x64 and Linux Kubuntu 64 bit rock solid! It took only 1 second to calculate Pi to 1,000,000 digits using Mathematica version 6.0. E6700 is unbeatable when it comes to price & performance!

I have a Dell Optiplex 745 and this is the fastest processor it can handle. This thing is a better CPU than the E=Core 2 Duo E4400.
I originally has a Pentium D 945 but it didn't match the E4400. But this E6700 is WAY beyond the E4400 and kinda wish I saved the 55 bucks and not have gotten the E4400, but the E6700 directly. This is good for people who have older motherboards that cannot support anything newer or faster. I use my computer for office applications and nothing too intense but when I do stream videos and such, this does a better job at multitasking. I upgraded my computer to Windows 7 64 bit, 8gb ddr2 PC26400 800mhz RAM, and this processor. It is a screamer. I did not want to buy a new computer. After all, I paid $1500 for this computer when it first came out 4 years ago so I decided to make due with what have since I'm on a budget. BTW, I would not pay the $319 price for this new boxed CPU. I bought a used one on ebay for 80 bucks. I know a gamer who told me this E6700 is a good overclocker for games, but I'm not into overclocking due to a locked BIOS

Just got my order in the mail today. It actually came earlier than expected. Took me 3 minutes to install and it works perfectly so far. I noticed a huge difference in performance from my old processor, which was a Pentium D 3.20GHZ. Of course, there is more better and advanced technology out now, but for people on a budget and has an old motherboard that supports Intel core 2 duo, I highly recommend this processor.

After some research I found that this cpu was the max that my motherboard would handle. I could have gone slightly higher end but then simply bottleneck data flow at the motherboard anyway, so why spend more? I purchased this as refurbished and tested, and am very happy. I wasn't sure of the degree of noticeable performance change I was going to see upgrading from an E4300 (1.8GHz, Core 2 Duo), but found that program freezing and some games were enhanced quite a bit. In was having trouble with a language learning program's speech recognition maxing out the cpu (observed through Task Manager performance tab). Some games ran smoother and quicker. For upgrading an old PC, this worked well.

it's a great procesor indeed but to pricey, if your gonna pay over 300 bucks i recomend the the intel core 2 quad it yust costs under 300 and it has 4 cores and 8mb cache. ten times more recommended, the future its about cores not ghz.

At its level I think this processor is just amazing... Eventhough your pc is using over 50% of it capacity, it can still run other application with any problem... Its really fast and I do recommed to get a better cooling fan than the one that it comes with for a better performance...
