With the Pro/Wireless 5000 LAN Access Point, the setup is easy. You can simply expand your network by adding more 802.11a adapters and access points (up to 64 users per access point). With this capacity for growth, you need only to buy what you need, when you need it. It includes Intel PROSet Utility for easy peer-to-peer networking, automatic wired/wireless switching, and setup completed in minutes.
The Pro/Wireless 5000 LAN Access Point works on a clean spectrum, transmitting on the 5 GHz UNII spectrum, free from interference by cordless phones, microwaves, and Bluetooth devices. It is dual compliant with optional kit available for simultaneous operation in both 5 GHz 801.11a and 2.4 GHz 802.11b.
Don't forget the power of mobility. The Pro/Wireless 5000 LAN Access Point's high-speed LAN access without wires ends the cost, clutter, and hassle of installing network connector cables. Your company can get uninterrupted access to the people, information, and tools you need as you move through the workplace with your mobile PC.
Given all these great features, it is no wonder that the Pro/Wireless 5000 LAN Access Point was awarded the 2002 Product of the Year by Network Magazine, one of the networking industry's longest running awards programs.

This review is from: Intel WSAP5000AM Pro/Wireless 5000 LAN Access Point (Personal Computers)
Given that the range of 802.11a is not that great this Access Point can not be hidden away in a closest. This Access Point has a fan. The fan is very loud and annoying. The Access Point does look good. I think they were going for form over function. Much of the Access Point is hollow so that allows the fan to resonate. The thing is like a big speaker.
