5.0 out of 5 stars Get this if you use Linux and mini-PCI
After getting fed up with buggy ndiswrapper and the horribly low-performing bcm43xx driver with bcm43xx-fwcutter, I bought this to replace the stock Broadcom 4306 that came in this Latitude D600. It is ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL! The card is physically smaller than the old Broadcom. Install took *maybe* 3 minutes, if that long and it was my first time ever replacing mini-pci...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this is you have an HP
The description here on Amazon does not say that this is not for HP, Compaq, IBM, or Toshiba laptops. I bought this and figured out the hard way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get this if you use Linux and mini-PCI, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter (Personal Computers)
Install took *maybe* 3 minutes, if that long and it was my first time ever replacing mini-pci. Works right out of the box with Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) without editing /etc/modules or /etc/modprobe.d/*. Driver loaded "automagically" and works flawlessly with GNOME NetworkManager.

Where the other card gave me 65-70% connectivity, this card gives a consistent 85% with greater throughput. Good riddance Broadcom! Bye-bye ndiswrapper! So long bcm43xx-fwcutter! If you dont know what those last few terms mean (and trust me you really dont want to know them!) but you want to run Linux happily on a Latitude D600 or similar mini-pci based laptop, GET THIS CARD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Upgrading that 3 year old laptop a winner !, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter (Personal Computers)
My 3 year old gateway laptop with Intel Centrino Mobile technology works great but I was getting frustrated trying to connect to WIFI with only a B internal card. Since the laptop was out of warranty anyway, ignoring the do not open sticker on the wireless cover on the bottem of the laptop was no problem, and installation was a breeze, just uninstall the old drivers in the add/remove programs area of Windows XP, shut down, replace the card, then boot up and install the new drivers for the B/G card I had downloaded prior to this from Intel. Works like a charm without having to deal with an external card.

This adapter installed in my Dell Latitude C510 in just a couple of minutes, and Ubuntu 7.10 configured it without a hitch. 1) Configuring wireless never seems to be easy on any OS (Mac excluded) 2) Linux is always a bear with wireless. If only everything was this simple!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works!, July 20, 2007
This review is from: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter (Personal Computers)
Installed this product in a Gateway MX3560 laptop to replace the one I removed and use in my Dell Inspiron 4100, which was using a PCMCIA card. Both work flawlessly running windows XP and Debian Etch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wireless Card, October 9, 2011

Purchased this card as a replacement for one gone bad in a Sony Vaio Laptop. This card worked great. Windows 7 found the driver and installed it automatically. Works like a charm providing very fast wireless connection to my SMC cable modem/router. Would highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect with Linux, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter (Personal Computers)
I have to agree with an earlier review. If you don't know what ndiswrapper is, buy this and keep it that way. And never buy anything from Broadcom ever again. My start with Linux would have been a whole lot smoother had I done that. At least it forced me to make friends with the terminal early.
Installation was easy on a Dell Inspiron B120 and the card was recognized instantly and automagically using Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). My connection is now much stronger than with the old painful workaround using the Broadcom card. Enthusiastically recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like A Charm, January 8, 2008
This review is from: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter (Personal Computers)
Swapped this one with the manufacturer provided network card in my Compaq Presario. No problems with form factor or connections (even though the seller comment stated that the card was not for use in systems made by HP, Compaq, IBM, or Toshiba - seriously, what's left? Dell and Gateway?).

Hardware installation was a simple matter of disconnecting two antenna wires and releasing clamps, then reverse with the new card. Be prepared with the Intel driver setup package for the card (downloaded from the Intel site) on a thumb drive to complete the installation.

Bottom line is that this was a nearly effortless installation that bumped my wireless network access from 802.11b to 802.11g speeds on my laptop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wireless for Compaq Presario 2100US, September 25, 2006
This review is from: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 802.11b/g Wireless Network Adapter (Personal Computers)
My Compaq Presario 2100US came with a Lan-Express Wireless B. I would get horrible reception with it in my house unless I was right next to the router. I upgraded to a Linksys MIMO G router, but it didn't help much. (The MIMO G did help my work laptop with this Intel 2200BG card.)

Since the Intel 2200BG card worked great in the work laptop, I decided to get a second card for my Compaq Presario 2100US. I installed the card, and the computer recognized it as a "Network Adapter" but did not configure it. I then ran the 2200BG driver install, and the computer recognized the card immediately!

It works great, and the only difference is the wireless button on my computer no longer works with the Intel card -- no big deal though.
