The P stands for no video processing on the CPU. So if you are planning to use a separate video card anyway, this processor is an excellent choice for a build on a budget - assuming the price is still ~sub $180.

I saved over $40 using this CPU rather than buying a K model. You will never notice the difference between the two CPUs in actual use or game play. And with the money I saved, I jumped up to a better video card. And with a better Video card, you will notice the difference in game play - big time!

I am using an Asrock Z77 MB and a Xigmatek GAIA SD1283 cooler - OC'd the 2380P to 3.9 with no problems. Along with a HD7870 video card, I get results on all games. Able to set everything to Ultra settings and still get great frame rates.

First time building my computer. I decided to go with the i5 because I didn't feel like going all out. Intel i5 does what I want and seems to do it without any hassle.
