Super fast and spectacular performance.

For cooling I went with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, works great for anyone looking for air cooling.

For Cinebench R15, the CPU score is above 1200 which means it's as fast as last gen Xeon 8-core CPU.

Owning and using this processor for two weeks, I can only say good things about this new platform. Despite its relatively high initial motherboard and RAM cost (you will need to pair this with totally new X99 based motherboard and DDR4 RAM), the processor performs as a worthy successor to the aging X58 platform (I did skip many generations and ended up with this processor as my primary desktop). Image processing, file compression, decompression and many other possible things that you normally do on a desktop are handled without any difficulty at all. For desktop gaming, the graphics card plays a very important part. So choose the graphics card carefully should you wish to use this processor as a base for computer gaming. Due to the limitation of the number of PCIe lanes, this processor is more suited for a single graphics card set up.

Overclocking capability on this processor is also very decent. Managed to get it running at 4.0Ghz without increasing much of the voltage (to 1.130V on this). Please note that this processor comes without any cooler. I can suggest pairing it with the mighty Noctua DH14 or the newer DH15.

HIghly recommended for those who runs a single graphics card set up and for those who needs a stable and solid processor.

At the time of writing this is the lowest of the LGA 2011-v3 CPUs available. This CPU offers 28 PCI-e lanes allowing for 16x 8x 4x PCI-e configurations. The next model in the family, the i7-5830K offers 40 PCI-e lanes, thus allowing 16x 16x 8x PCI-e configurations.
I'm intending to use only one video card so it would have been a waste to spend the additional $200 on the 5830K.
That being said, this CPU is a beast, I've been playing Wolfenstein @ 4K UHD with all settings in the max. I have a GeForce 780 GTX as well.

Super fast and spectacular performance. Does everything I could ask and barely if ever have I seen it go above 25% even at stock. Runs cool with the H110 with temps in the low 30's at idle and mid 40's under load. I chose this CPU because I am pretty much through running SLI tired of the microstuttering or compatibility issues with games. One big card to run everything I throw at it so 28 lanes is fine for me.

This product is amazing for it's price, and as others have said, is worth it to not spend $200 more for a marginal performance increase. Maybe if you were running dual+, high-end graphics cards, but this is going to do a lot that is thrown at it. Perfect price-to-value ratio currently. For cooling I went with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, works great for anyone looking for air cooling. Good benchmarks, and runs cool with my current cooling.

Build:
Thermaltake Chaser A71
Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E
EVGA GeForce GTX760
ASRock X99 Extreme4
4 x 4 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series
256 GB SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series SSD
750W Corsair CX750

Pros:
New chipset
Mobos are new to support new chipset family
DDR4 compatible (only DDR4, see cons)
New enough to be top in class, 'old' enough to have been tested
Intel!!

Cons:
None so far concerning performance and heat
The ONLY thing that I consider a con, is that you have to get DDR4, which is priced high since it's new. I consider DDR4 a blessing.

Recommend openly to anyone looking to build.

this thing is a beast. i thought i might have gone low-end when i got this instead of the i7-5930K but i ran a lot of things against this build and the proc has yet to truly be tested.

Fast processor. Right now at the sweet spot for price and performance. This is the one to get without overpaying for marginal performance gains.

This is simply the best cpu I've ever owned.

Pro's
6 core's 12 threads
mine overclocks like a champ
great for gaming and video/photo editing

Con's
Requires ddr4 memory and a new platform.

Conclusion
If you can get past the expensive prices of ddr4 and x99 motherboards then I recommend this processor.
