The Best Introduction To Intelligent Design I've Seen,
By
This review is from: The Intelligent Design Coloring Book (Paperback)
"The Intelligent Design Coloring Book" is the most succinct introduction I have seen not only of Intelligent Design, but also of the very motives of its proponents (who should be dubbed mendacious intellectual pornographers simply for their consistently absurd efforts at promoting Intelligent Design creationism, especially when there isn't a single shred of scientific evidence that exists supporting it). It is quite succinct by noting, on the very cover, that its content is "100% Fact Free"; an observation that has been noted substantially by others, such as for example, philosopher Barbara Forrest and biologist Paul Gross in their excellent introduction to Intelligent Design and its political and religious ties, "Creationism's Trojan Horse: The Wedge of Intelligent Design". I especially liked the two pages describing a romantic encounter on the beach, in which it is so noted:
"Carrie is doing the Intelligent Designer's work. Using her breasts, she attempts to distract Matt from looking at Michael." "Breasts can be used for good or evil. When they are used to foil homosexual activity it pleases the Intelligent Designer." There is also a priceless comparison of religiously devout men stoning one man to death and of monkeys confronting other monkeys. For anyone who wishes to doubt the strongly religious origins of Intelligent Design creationism, then this handy little coloring book may be most persuasive in emphasizing such origins. For anyone who wishes to have a hearty laugh, then this is a brilliant little parody of Fundamentalist Christian "Sunday Bible School" literature aimed at pre-teens and adolescents. A parody worthy of note alongside such excellence as seen from the likes of Monty Python and Benny Hill.

If you are looking for something for the kids to doodle in while watching TBN, The Intelligent Design Coloring Book is for you. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them asks "Dad, what's the color for Blasphemy?"
A great gift for the apostate in the family.

If you are a skeptic of intelligent design, one who loves irony, one who hates irony and loves intelligent design... this is the book for you. A hilarious and - somehow - wise encapsulation of the origin of humanity. Enjoy, friends, enjoy.

The most enlightening five minutes that I've devoted to Christianity since attending a sermon on the special pidgeon, a whole different story that's not in any book that I know. Luckily for us this one's in English!

This is very funny and deceptively simple. I loved it! The only way to make sense of theology is with comedy and this does a brilliant job of it.

I wondered what had happened to Pastor Brett who ran the Open-Hearted Ministry at Marharishi University in Iowa when I was an undergrad. Sure enough, the power of his words rang true once again when I opened my copy of T.I.D.C.B. While the other students were nursing hangovers, Pastor Brett would burst into their rooms with his Gibson guitar, strumming loudly, and singing at the top of his lungs. They certainly weren't going to drink again after hearing his fabulous voice! And I recall him offering t-shirts to the scantily-clothed young women in their bikinis. I love his book too! It makes so much sense in these troubled times. How I wish that there were more men of character in our governments like Pastor Brett. Buy his book, all you people, and understand what needs to be done!

Fun for the Whole Family (Values),

This review is from: The Intelligent Design Coloring Book (Paperback)
This thoughtful activity "book"* distills a complicated alternative theory to challenge the Darwin-worship advocated by "scientists" (what do THEY know?), in a format appealing and suitable for young folk and their pastoral caretakers.
Although this "book" is less focused on sex, sin, and sodomy than, say, the Old Testament, it does come with potentially titillating line drawings. While less graphic than medieval paintings of the hellbound being fed into the mouth of satan and tortured, these might cause faint "down-there" stirrings in the loins of impressionable youngsters. Parental guidance suggested. The sublime drawings are accompanied by helpful text. There's no bibliography nor footnotes to support the information provided, but who cares: if you're making crap up in the name of Jesus, then you're doing the Lord's work, so the facts needn't matter. Go, God! Wooo-ooo! This "book" is sure to send out the message: God rules, science drools! *"book" is given in scare-quotes as there is ONLY one Book and it's good 'cos it says so-- right there in the book that says it's good. QED.

sarcastic junk that feeds of stereotypes,
By Konstantin (Inland Empire & San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Intelligent Design Coloring Book (Paperback)
This is sarcastic piece that makes fun of theism.
To clarify terms: Intelligent Design - is the theory that differentiates apparent design from actual design. Hence the term intelligent design. The term was never meant as many may think to be tautology. Darwinian design - or 'appearance of design' is the faith by new atheists in unknown YET mysterious natural forces to produce designed structures, like code writing, storage and retreaval in living systems. Those mysterious forces have not been yet discovered, but they will be, if for no other reason, because reality is limited to matter and thus only matter can produce design in virtue of exlusion of any other method, since no such method is allowed. In other words, since Darwinists (naturalists who have strong eschatological faith in future, when we will finally learn that complex stuctures come by chance, and thus fire engineers) believe that design is possible by chance, more skeptical folk created term "Intelligent" Design, to underline that their version of design is what design is known for - namely careful architecturing. Now setting this all aside, this "book" absolutely has nothing to do with any design. Not even design of arguments or thought, it tries to convey. (well, maybe graphic design a little) Intelligent Design is a characteristic of structure of reality that exhibit intervention of a mind. This book's formula is much easier: take any religion (particularly Christianity) and substitute supreme Being of that religion with words "Intelligent Designer" and attempt to ridicule the religion and some of the associated, stereotypically or not, with it practices. When I say associated stereotypically, I mean that not all Christians are willing to server in military, and this book jumbles them all into a pilot who bombs Muslims. Then it asks you to draw infamous picture of Muhammed. ... "The grace of Intelligent Designer... is only available to people who have faith in Him more than in science or in their own thoughts or interests". well. Worship of science is called scientism. So, there is some truth in that('faith in science'). Reminds of a quote from Feyerabend:"In a democracy scientific institutions, research programmes, and suggestions must therefore be subjected to public control, there must be a separation of state and science just as there is a separation between state and religious institutions, and science should be taught as one view among many and not as the one and only road to truth and reality." Back to the point. This "coloring book" is a typical display of ignorance and stereotypical indoctrionation: 'science and God stand in contrast', or 'people of faith are against science', or 'science and faith are at war, since Galileo'... and alike. To be fair, it has some sarcasm, but since most people get humor but don't get the real beef in this issue, this little "book" is just reassurance in stereotypes for the church of materialism/naturalism, and its dogma. I don't get problem getting the sarcasm part; I have problem with the fact that the whole purpose of this is not to touch on real notion of Intelligent Design in any sense, but to ridicule the term so that people like Pavlov's dog react to it with stereotypical cynicism.

a waste of time and money,

The Intelligent Design Coloring Book covers more about sex, mostly homosexuality, than ID. The 9.95 dollar 64 page tract took me around 5 minutes to read from cover to cover. The pictures and 18 point words used do not leave much room for text. The purpose of the book (actually a tract) seems to be to denigrate the dominant moral values of Americans, inferring that promiscuity and anything else that "feels good" is appropriate behavior. Judging by the pictures this goal includes for children as well as adults. And he concludes the from the goo to people by chance, time and the outworking of natural law called evolution is a fact. My evaluation: This tract was truly a big waste of time and money.
