Enjoyable, if a bit uneven, August 21, 2006

Odds and sods compilation from the classic Chicago-based indie pop/emo/ post rock group Joan of Arc, The Intelligent Design of Joan of Arc consists principally of previously unreleased tracks, B-Sides, and Japanese bonus tracks. An enjoyable listen which effectively captures the development of the group's unique combination of instrumental post-rock flourishes and infectiously melodic indie pop sensibilities. Tim Kinsella's vocal stylings do get a bit tired after a bit, but are never frustrating or grating.
