5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Acoustic Tool
This tuner is one of the easiest and most accurate tuners on the market. The fact that it can be used on multiple instruments is one of the best features. I have used electronic tuners in the past but ambient noise always made them difficult to use, This tuner does not have that problem since it is clamped to the instrument and picks up vibrations directly...

2.0 out of 5 stars Intellitouch PT2 Tuner
I had issue with this tuner. I was using it to tune a Takamine acoustic guitar. It was showing the guitar to be in tune but it definitely was not. I ended up buying a 20 dollar korg tuner with a built-in mic and had no issue at all.

I personally use it on my two guitars and my ukulele. If you need to use a tuner in a darkened performance setting, consider the upgraded model which has a backlit screen, if not, this model is a great value for the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good tuner for acoustic instruments, January 27, 2005

This tuner doesn't work like a standard electric tuner - you attach it directly to your instrument where it picks up the vibrations. It's great for non-standard instruments. I do wish it had a more precise dial/meter for telling you the level of the input or how close you were to the note, but it works fine.

Simple. Easy to use. I got it because I play in an acoustic guitar ensemble. With 10 guys tuning up at the same its hard to use a tuner that works from a mic. This one clips on the head of the guitar and works from vibrations of the guitar body. Works great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff., January 14, 2009
This review is from: Bare Bones Intellitouch Tuner
This tuner is so awesome, I bought one for my grandpa! I've read a few reviews from people who have had issues with these tuners, but the solution is right in the directions for the tuner. Different instruments have different "hot spots" by moving the tuner 1/8" you can go from a weak tuning vibration to one that works perfectly. If you are not ready to buy a rack mount tuner this is the best bang for your buck. Works on guitars (acoustic and electric) as well as banjos.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have a problem with the low strings...., October 14, 2008

I have bought three of these, and am about to buy another. All still work, I give them as gifts, sometimes.

I have had no problems with the tuner. It performs quite well, but....
I had to make a modification. I play steel acoustic, nylon acoustic, electric standard, and electric bass. The low strings were hard to tune until I removed one of the rubber pads in the clamp area. The pads are there to give a better grip. I removed the stationary pad since, duh, rubber is a sound isolator. Direct contact with the guitar allows tuning my Yamaha bass low E string with no problems at all. If you are worried about scratching the finish on your baby, put on a piece of masking tape.

5.0 out of 5 stars best little tuner ever, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Bare Bones Intellitouch Tuner
I haven't tried the newer models, and the PT-2 is discontinued, but... my PT-2 is the best small tuner I've ever had. It clips to the instrument and measures by vibration there, instead of a mic (background noise) or a cable (cumbersome). It seems to be quite accurate.

The Intellitouch tuner was worth every cent which I paid for it. As an aspiring fiddler/violinist, I have found the Intellitouch not only easy to use, but also energy efficient. This is a product which I can easily recommend to everyone as worthy of purchase.

This is a nice tuner. It is not lighted, so it couldn't be used in dim light. I have used it on a mandolin, upright bass and guitar and it works fine.

A truly convenient tuner for when everyone is loud and you need to tune an acoustic. But the low E string never gets it right. It shows up as a B on the both of the two of these I own on all my 7 guitars. It shows up as "E" if I use the 12 fret harmonic. Otherwise great.
