4.0 out of 5 stars would be a 5 star game but.....
you can't play the two players games solo. Remember how annoying it was to have to manipulate both controllers to play a football game yourself? The frustration is back. So, you can't play a lot of these games unless your childhood buddy still lives near you.

When I saw this game for the first time in the store I declared, "I must have it!", remembering when I played these games for the first time in the early eighties. Well, I did get it, and though I'm glad I have it, I must admit the people at Activision did a pretty poor job in picking the best games. There were some good choices, such as "Astrosmash", "Shark Shark" (one of my favorites), and "Snafu", there are some disasters, like "Star Strike", and "Space Hawk". There were some really tremendous games for the Intellivision, like "Utopia" (a precursor to Sim City type games), a little known game called "Vectron", any of the voice games. Also absent were "Horseracing" and one of the best games "Lock and Chase". Where are the one or two player versions of the sports games which were released toward the end of the systems days, and why did "Bowling" not make it? That was one of the best of the sports games! I hope that the idea to bring back some of the other Intellivision games doesn't die out because of this release. Activision, producers of this game created some of the best of the system's offerings, such as "Dreadnaught Factor" and "Beam Rider". Also there were some fantastic games by Imagic, such as "Demon Attack", "Safecrackers", "Dracula", and "Swords and Serpents". These are games I feel would translate well. It's unfortunate that who designed this game went with so many below average games!

Intellivision Classics presses the rewind button of the mind, bringing you back to the early eighties when games relied on fun instead of high tech 256-bit holographics to hook a player. The 30 games that were selected are mostly mainstream like Baseball and Snafu, but a few are unbelievably rare, such as Stadium Mud Buggies. Me and my brother played these games so much, my parents called us Player 1 and Player 2! Buy this game! You will not be let down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like, totally awesome!!, March 1, 2001

I saw this at a Toys R Us last year, and wanted it so bad I went and bought a new PlayStation just to be able to play it! Of course, I grew up on Intellivision, but now my five and six year old boys love this, too, and can play Frog Bog to the death. It's hysterical to see after me and my brother did the same thing dozens of years ago. Of course, you'd have to have a perverse sense of nostalgia for these games to buy it, but if you do, this thing is awesome. I even bought one for my dad, who, like us kids, spent many wasted hours playing Intellivision. Hey, it was one of the things we did as a family, so it's cool! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Memories, February 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Intellivision Classic Games (Video Game)
Intellivision classics remains the cornerstone to my Playstation game collection. I would highly recommend this game to people who remember fondly the video games of the late 70s early 80s. I have no problems with the crude graphics, simple rules, and wacky nature of these games. In fact, these are a few of the reasons why these games are such treasures. Take the baseball game for instance; what could be more fun than throwing out a runner at first ... from deep centerfield!

I spent many study breaks back in med school playing these incredible games with a friend who also grew up with Intellivision. We were evenly matched at baseball, football, snafu, sub-hunt, etc... We both agreed they are still the best games around. Now if only I can get my brother to brush up on his retro game playing skills...

Anyway, it would be nice if they came up with a sequel to this game and included Burgertime (my wife's favorite game back in the day), Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (what could be more fearsome than the Dragon from Cloud Mountain running you down?), and B-17 bomber (with the voice simulator of course!)

The other games are really fun!! If you're a huge fan of Intellivsion, you'll love this collection of Intellivision Classics!!

This is perfect for people who can't keep up with the hightech graphics and games of today. It's been great being able to go back to my childhood by playing these classic games that started my arcade fanatic life!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you owned an Intellivision, buy this now., December 16, 2001
This review is from: Intellivision Classic Games (Video Game)
This is a great game, brings back great memories of my childhood with an Intellivision. Has 30 games some are classics like: Snafu, Night Stalker, Astrosmash (my personal favorite), and Sub Hunt. The only drawback would be the load times on everything. It loads each menu at a time, but well worth the wait. This game will bring back some good memories of old technology on newer technology.

As a owner of the classic Intellivision system (to include the Intellivoice & the computer console), I found the games on here a blast.

Working the controllers takes a little getting used to since the days of "The Disk" are gone, but all in all, it's a worthy investment.

Each game brings me back to the days of youth.
