I purchased this book directly from the author. I knew a little about it but I must say that I was blown away. I had left the book at work and was going to read it over the weekend but went back to work to get it. While on my way to dinner with my husband I started reading the book, I read during dinner and when I got back to the house, missed an evening appointment, prayer meeting mind you. I finished the book in 6 hrs tear and all.

I said all that to say this books draws you in, you take the journey with Diana along her journey of escape, denial, healing and forgiveness just as it states on the front. She shares her soul with you and also cause you to think about so many things.

As a Christian I was there saying AMEN when she questioned "where was God?" As a rape surivor I connected with her pain of the road to recovery; as a surivor of domestic violence I journeyed with Renee, Mr. Smith's ex-wife. I felt like I was sitting right there next to her along each situation. I feel the book was well written unlike most true stories of rape surivors.

Intended Harm is a story that give you a brief glimps of how important small things are in our life. The excerpts from her kidnapper's ex-wife and even the touching letter from the kidnapper's daughter. You see how many lives were touched and for each of those lives there are extended family and friends, so in reality the number of people's lives changed is endless. There's a saying about "don't sweat the small stuff" but it's the small stuff that can make a different in someone life. Someone taking the time to pray with a child and teach them about God. Not giving up on someone, seeking out ways to help bring awareness to all types of issues and taking a stand.

This book helped me understand how the trauma of rape can affect an individual for years. I really liked Diana's authenticity with her struggles. How beautiful to see so much healing, so much redemption of something so terrible. She is a real inspiration for me and my daughters. I have recommended her book to many people and everyone who read it has been deeply impacted and greatly encouraged. Thank you, Diana, for being willing to risk telling your story to help others. Great is your reward in heaven!
