5.0 out of 5 stars Upbeat and amusing!, May 19, 2000

The absolute best ever version of "Tips of My Fingers" is done by Desmond Dekker. As many people who have recorded this version, none will top this one! And who can ever forget the wonderful classic "Israelites." The entire CD is a great fun listen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Listen to this, it's a treat!, October 21, 2006

This review is from: Intensified (Audio CD)
Under normal circumstances, my preferences are not Ska or reggae music, but when I searched for the oldies favorite "Israelites", I discovered Desmond Dekker and the Aces. Whether it is the high and deep voice or just the beat, or the background musicians, you can't help but listen! Listen to what Desmond Dekker can do with his voice. What you also hear is an array of instruments.

This has some slower ballads, like "Coconut Water", "My Lonely World" or some danceable tunes, like "Sweet Music".

All songs were written by Desmond Dekker, with the exception of country crooner Bill Anderson's "Tips of My Fingers" and I have not heard such an emotional version as this. Many people have done this song, and I was surprised it was done so well!

Aside from Tips of My Fingers, the gem has to be "Israelites". This song somehow managed to make the top of the charts in the 60s, a rare introduction of reggae music to the pop world. It is forever a classic.

Death in 2006: Sad to note that Desmond Dekker died in 2006.
