Another great album - Whitford/St. Holmes.

Not as good as his 'Double Live Gonzo' (see my review), but still worth your time to check it out.

Love this CD, had the cassette years ago, was surprised to find this gem.

Recorded live at various concerts, the album starts out of the gate at guitars blaring, drums pounding and doesn't let up. Its a great collection of songs that never seemed to make it on studio-released albums, it's just Ted and the gang having fun and rocking out in concert. While none of these songs were ever chart toppers, they are just great rock-n-roll. Its the perfect CD to play in the car. You will be fighting the uncontrollable urge to pin the gas pedal to the floorboard when the guitars start playing on "Put Up or Shut Up", "TNT Overture", or "Heads Will Roll". While not endorsed by the National Highway Safety Commission, it does make being stuck in traffic much more enjoyable. Before long, the person in front of you with the blinker going for the last 20 minutes while you have only moved 30 feet just doesn't seem to matter. You will find yourself tapping the toes, drumming on the steering wheel, air guitar on the seat belt, and singing along with "Flying Lip Lock" or "Land of a Thousand Dances" and have a smile on your face. If you like Ted Nugent, you will like this album.

This is all-out, cocked, locked, and ready-to-rock Gonzo Tedly at his finest. Songwriting prowess? We don't need none of that - each and every song is an excuse for a guitar solo, the way Nuge music was intended. If you're looking for well-thought melodies and depth in lyrics, go find Cat Stevens. If you want your rock loud, raw, and Nugified, look no further. This is the real thing.

Now here's a way to complete your contractual obligation. Put out a live album of new songs that sound like you wrote them right before the show. But you know what? This isn't bad. In fact, it's better than a lot of the albums he put out after 1978. And the band plays the tunes with such vigor, you'd think they were playing the hits. Highlights include the killer "Put Up or Shut Up", "The Flying Lip Lock" (you catch that title?), and the song with the best title of all time, "My Love Is Like a Tire Iron". You also get a smoking version of Wilson Pickett's "Land of a Thousand Dances" and a cool instrumental in "The TNT Overture". And how could you not love the all-out silliness of "I Am a Predator"? Granted, this isn't a classic in the vein of Double Live Gonzo. However, if you're a fan of the Nuge, you'll dig this.

Not as good as his 'Double Live Gonzo' (see my review), but still worth your time to check it out. First off, I never realized that all ten cuts here are original material. That's usually taking a major risk with fans. I mean, let's face it, most people buy a live album to hear live versions of songs they're familiar with. Right? Either way, 'Intensities In Ten Cities' is a decent record. Tracks that I dug the most were "Put Up Or Shut Up", good 'ol Uncle Ted's love song "My Love Is Like A Tire Iron", "Jailbait", "Heads Will Roll" and his remake of an old Motown classic "Land Of A 1000 Dances". Line-up: Ted - guitar & vocals, Charlie Huhn - rhythm guitar & vocals, Dave Kiswiney - bass&vocals and Cliff Davies - drums. Good to pull out and play every now and then.

This live album was released in 1981 consisting of ten songs recorded during ten dates of Nugent's 1980 Scream Dream tour. Some background information on this recording is needed. By the end of the '70's Nugent's original band partners Rob Grange (Amboy Duke) and vocalist/guitarist Derek St. Holmes had left and Ted's record sales had diminished to the extent that his record label (Epic) was not going to re-new Ted's recording contract. Ted was obligated to Epic for one more record, so while he was on the road supporting his Scream Dream release he had written ~ 20 new songs and instead of going into the studio and paying the exorbitant studio fees, Ted decided to record the new songs live. Ted picked 10 of favorites and during the last 10 dates of the tour he recorded his new songs. His new band-mates were Dave Kiswiney (with Ted until 1990) and Charlie Huhn.

The performances of each song are indeed "intense" and Ted is at the top of his alpha-male guitar game. Though the song titles and lyrics are inane (i.e. "I sure do like to boogie; I sure do like to rock; But when it's time to wango tango I do the flying lip lock."), the music is ferocious! Ted's deep growling tone from his iconic Gibson Byrdland is so forceful that it sounds like a earthquake coming at you! Ted and mates are amped to eleven and going Gonzo! The songs for the most part are fast, short, and full of fury. Get past Ted's ball waging and weird Jailbait lyrics and you are in for a sonic guitar sledgehammer.

One of the best Ted Nugent's recordings ever... Includes 10 non-previously released songs, recorded live in 10 different cities during a tour... Mr. Nugent performance is excellent for all ten pieces.
