I had used CA ISS 2007 without problems, and really loved it, compared to five or six others, largely because of the technical support. I have 5 computers so bought two of the CA ISS 2008 programs. The computers running WXP/SP2 are more or less ok, but I have had nightmares with the Vista computers, especially the business one with a lot of programs which had an upgrade from WXP/SP2 to Windows Vista Home Premium. The computer kept locking up; eventually, HP had me do a complete system recovery, from new HP-purchased recovery discs. It took three days to get everything back on line; it worked well UNTIL I put in the CA ISS 2008, when the lockups came back. I had to manually shut down and restart in Safe Mode and uninstall CA ISS 2008. I tried all the obvious things -- firewalls off, cache cleaning, spyware and virus scans, installing each feature one at a time, etc. -- and nothing worked. CA has been completely uninterested -- nothing in the online database, responses from online that indicate they hadn't even read my complaint fully, etc. I have already junked the programs and am trying Norton 360, which comes through my ISP (Earthlink); it costs a bit more than the CA, but at least the computer works. This software really deserves a minus five stars, but it isn't an option.
