If your TV has S-Video inputs, then most definently get this cable. It separates the color from the brightness/darkness of the video signal, which results in a much clearer picture. I have my Playstation, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, and DVD player hooked up via this wire.

This is a must have accessory if your TV has an S-Video input. Unlike regular coaxial hook up, this cable allows you to see the full detail and effect of the Dreamcast machine.

You will spend 100% of your game playing time staring at your TV screen, while you may play a certain game for only less than 25% of the time.

S-Video offers a higher quality picture and a better viewing experience - period! If you have an S-Video input on your TV, then buy the cable NOW! And don't stop there...Convert all your other connections (VCR/DVD/DSS/LD/etc.) as well. Simply put - S-Video does for video what Surround Sound does for audio. It's the best thing out there until standard digital optic interfaces are commonplace. I rate it only(?) 4 Stars because I feel that it (as with most game console cables) should be longer. Add it to your Shopping Cart, you won't regret it.

I recently got a Sony Wega TV with a S-Video input. I was kind of skeptical about how much this cable would improve the graphics of my Dreamcast games. ... After I got my cable in the mail, I plugged it in and played Crazy Taxi.

At first the differences didn't jump out at me. But as I drove through the streets of San Francisco I started to notice things that weren't there before. The cars had more subtle shades of colors. I could actually read the billboards and shop signs! Also I could see the hairstyle bangs on one of my female passengers...along with the Teddy Bear design on the granny passenger's t-shirt! WOW!

I noticed that some games will look better than others. Resident Evil:Code Veronica, didn't look that much better. But Soul Calibur did show a noticeable improvement. Using this cable generally increases the detail and sharpness of the graphics. Colors will appear brighter and differing shades of colors will be visible. If you have the TV that can support S-Video, this is a must have item.

I bought this adapter for better picture quality, and found a side benefit. Hydro Thunder, in multiplayer mode, gets very dark, necessitating turning the brightness and/or contrast up much too high. With the S-Video adapter, it stayed playable at movie-watching levels of brightness and contrast, even in multiplayer.

If you have a S-Video input, you have to buy this. I doubted it at first and didn't hook it up right away. I started up Crazy Taxi one day and remembered I still hadn't hooked it up. I made the switch, turned on the game and was amazed. It really did make a difference. The text and graphics were a lot sharper than with using the regular cable. I was surprised.

Video Games never looked so crisp. Now... How about an RGB???

The difference I can see between regular AV versus S-type is amazing. Better color frame rate, better picture and brighter colors. They should include this with the game.
