"Making connections between a reading and their [student's] own life as well as the connections between readings keeps the students engaged and motivated to read and write."
"The different themes focusing on identity and relationships and connections between the students and their world around them are definitely topics that we spend time on throughout the semester, especially through the different primary readings. I like how the first unit of INTERACTIONS starts with the individual, and then the consecutive sequences discuss the individual's interaction first with things close around him or her, and then broaden to such things as nature and technology. I think there are enough themes given in these eight units to satisfy or appeal to every kind of student that might be in the class in a given semester.
