Pathology - Learn from the Best.,
By Tony Chu (Santa Monica, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Interactive Case Study Companion to Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease, Sixth Edition (CD-ROM for Windows & Macintosh, Individual) (CD-ROM)
Created by the original pathology gurus (Kumar et al.), thisCD-ROM highlights critically important basic pathologic conceptsspanning the breadth of human disease. This impressive collection of 99 cases, and over 1500 images are based upon the authors' own pathology course taught at the University of Texas - Southwestern. The user friendly interface provides an intuitive organization of material into general and system-based pathology. Each system-based series of cases is prefaced with an easy-to-follow list of objectives which reads very much like a course "syllabus". Cases are referenced to both the fifth and sixth editions of the Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease which is ideal for review. In addition, each case tutorial begins with a USMLE-like clinical vignette. Images are superbly labeled and the text is high-yield. Seamless and well thought out, it's almost as if the authors were holding a one-on-one clinic with their star pupil - you. Pound for pound, this CD-ROM provides enormous value. Compared with the thousands of hours and dollars demanded by medical school, Kumar et al. deliver something that most faculty can't: a more robust, intuitive understanding of pathology. |
