PhysicsTutor Excalibur, formatted just like ChemTutor Excalibur, is a must have for students who want an excellent resource for the Physics SAT II and AP tests. This software allows students who are currently studying material to focus in on many major areas of concentration within Physics. By asking series of multiple choice questions, students are able to find out what they have a good understanding of, and more importantly, where they need to spend more time. The "explain" and "learn" buttons show students how to solve problems, and allows them to see where they are having trouble. Students can choose specific sections to work on as practice and review, but can also set up tests, choosing only the major areas that will be on their next test, to focus in on that information. Because the questions are asked just as they are on the AP and SAT II exam, this program is especially helpful in creating the mode of thinking necessary to do well on these important tests. This is an excellent program for any student who has a passion to excel.

I am a senior in college, and like a lot of people I put off the Physics requirements until the very end. I have found it very difficult to keep myself interested in the course, because the homework assignments are so long and tedious. So, I purchased Excalibur hoping it would be entertaining while teaching me Physics at the same time. Well, it's not very entertaining and I find it very difficult to actually learn Physics from it. The program is good at covering the basic concepts, so you understand the rules being applied. As far as working with the Math, it is extremely lacking. If you are like me and get the general concepts, but have problems applying the math, then, this disc is not for you. Pencil, paper, a textbook, and maybe a solutions manual to verify you are headed in the right direction, are much more effective study tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars PhysicsTutor: A Wonderful Tool, January 3, 2005
This review is from: PhysicsTutor Excalibur (CD-ROM)
I am currently a high school senior, and I was just recently given a copy of PhysicsTutor three days ago by a teacher of mine. PhysicsTutor has helped me to organize and maximize my efficiency while studying physics. I have only had this product for three days, and already my knowledge of physics has improved dramatically. PhysicsTutor explains the material in an easy concise manner so that I don't get confused with erroneous details. First it helps me learn the material, and then it tests me to make sure I know it. Three days with just an hour or two a night, and now I feel confident raising my hand in class. PhysicsTutor is a wonderful tool for students!

5.0 out of 5 stars It is tremendous!!!, June 8, 2005
This review is from: PhysicsTutor Excalibur (CD-ROM)
The Physics tutor Excalibur suprised me with brilliant explanations. I just came to the states couple months ago. I had struggling with basic English terms, and physics concepts. Thus, I had hard time to get good grades on the quizes. However, Physics Excalibur solved all the problems that I had for 2months. My grade went up because of this program. If you are going to take Physics2, I suggest you should buy this program.

5.0 out of 5 stars This review, will influence you!, February 22, 2006
This review is from: PhysicsTutor Excalibur (CD-ROM)
Ok, so my name is Joe Riitano, and I have just experienced the best thing a student with a lack of knowledge could experience.

I am a currently a junior at my High School, in Lakeland Florida. I was struggling with my first quarter in Physics, because my teacher can never get his point across. So one quarter of the school year goes by, and I realize I am not doing so hot in Physics, I took it upon myself to do something about it, with my grade at a 67.3 I decided to seek help. My cousin Josh Riitano from Lake George New York, told me he was using this software to help him pass Chemistry, called Chem Tutor Excalibur, he also stated that there is a software for Physics, called Physics Tutor Excalibur, he told me how Chem Tutor helped him perform to the top 10 percent of his class, and I thought to myself, If he can do it, I can do it. I went online at Amazon.com found the software in 30 seconds, purchased it with in a minuet.

Now lets fast forward to now, I am finishing my Second Quarter at Lakeland High, and I have a 96.87 average, I am in the top 15% of my class, and my teacher has now recommended me to take honors Science Interactive next year, and I agreed on the spot, as flattered as I was, I cant help to thank the creators of Physics Tutor Excalibur, Helping educational challenged kids like me around the world, succeed.

I am a high school student taking AP physics right now. I just had my midterm exam today and, with the help of PhysicsTutor, did a lot better than I expected!

The program is very well laid-out, with wonderful explanations and visual materials accompanying the text. I have no question that PhysicsTutor will continue to help me in AP Physics, even when the course moves into college-level material.

I would recommend PhysicsTutor Excalibur to any high school or college student who, like me, wants to strengthen their understanding of the concepts of physics.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great product!, May 25, 2006

As you all know, physics is a demanding course that can get tediouds, complicated, and boring. Although my grade is in the A range, physics has been one of my least favorite classes. One day, a friend told me about this product. I was at first skeptical, but once I went zooming through the tutorials I realized that physics could be fun. The layout of Physics Tutor is simple: There are tutorials on all of the major topics of Physics. They are multiple choice questions. When you dont get one right, Physics Tutor alerts you and gives you a clear and concise explantion on how to do the problem and what the right answer acutally is. Also, come exam time, there are several different 100 question practice exams, which serve as a cumulative review. Physics Tutor makes physics fun, interesting, and is a good guage on how well I know the matierial. Thank you Physics Tutor!

This is an excellent program that asks students both computational and conceptual questions. They both educate and test the student's knowledge. My students use the product as part of the course I teach and I hear nothing but positive comments from them. I would recomend it to both teachers and students of physics. Also, the other products from this company are equally outstanding.

2.0 out of 5 stars Test Prep software vice Tutor, July 8, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PhysicsTutor Excalibur (CD-ROM)
I think that the advertisement is a bit misleading. I found no "tutorials", but only practice tests. Apparantly the tutorial part is the examination mode that allows to you click on a brief explaination of why you either got the question correct or not. If you want to take practice tests, and a get quick explainations, then this is for you. If you want tutorials and/or lessons on the physics topics then you'll waste your money on this. I think the program is very simple to use, however, it's reminiscent of software from the late 80s and early 90s. Don't let the graphics on the box fool you;I expected much more for my $40.

Update Oct 2008. Save your money, if you think that you just Have to have this archaic program, send me a comment and I'll mail it to you for just the shipping cost. I honestly don't know what the 5 star raters see in this product.

Update 2012: I still have the disc and will mail it to whomever wants it. I just ask that you pay the mailing charge. I'm baffled at the number of 5 star reviewers. Make sure your computer will run a 1980s based DOS based program.
