Mike Neal's Interactive Novel sweeps you up into the world of a high-tech startup and doesn't let you down until you've been through it all. I recommend this book for anyone who wants the adventure of a startup. For those of you who already have been there, you will find yourself nodding your head in agreement with each twist and turn. In either case, you will enjoy the ride of Interactive Novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Tech Reality, March 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Interactive Novel (Paperback)
The story draws you in. This book provides an inside view to the corporate world. I found his stories to be fairly accurate in what happens in corporate america.

I was entrigued by the main character in his entrepreneurial spirit. I recommend this book for those who think they want to be executives, and for those who are trying to start their own business.

Once you pick the book up, you'll have a hard time putting it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars What CEO's in high tech REALLY do, March 3, 2003
By
Spiroman "daspiro" (Boulder, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Interactive Novel (Paperback)
I heard Mike Neal speak at a conference a few years ago when he was CTO of a local dot.com start-up. When I heard that he had written a novel about what happens inside of dot.com companies and on the trials and tribulations of a bright, but honest CTO, I felt I had to read it. I'm glad I did.

One would expect a technical person with several patents to his name to write a novel that is full of jargon and dry. That is not the case here. Mr. Neal has opened the door to the world he came from with realistic characters, sadly believeable plots and a real "hero". As we follow the life of our hero we see him go from confident can caring CTO to sacrificial lamb to... well, you'll have to read the book to find out what happens to him. But when you do, prepare to see a character that you care about and that you see grow. Mr. Neal is not afraid to show the flaws of his hero and that only makes it that much more enjoyable.

An excellent first novel. If you have been in, or know someone that has been in the high tech start up world, then this is the book to buy.
