1.0 out of 5 stars Don't even think about buying this unit., August 20, 2005
This review is from: Interdynamics Heavy-Duty, 12V Compressor Inflates BIG Tires to 300 PSI, Model# HD-275 (Misc.)
We received this as a employee gift and were so excited to have it. Not only does it not fill anything pass 15 PSI, the 12V cord is very cheaply made where it plugs into your cig. lighter. The plastic on the tip started to crack after pulling it out. With the few more times we used it, I the tip completely broke. At least it comes with 7 year warranty. Save yourself the disapointment and headache.

4.0 out of 5 stars good unit after you get rid of the wimpy plug, October 16, 2005

this unit works surprisingly well with the following caveats:
1. you must replace the cheap cig lighter plug with aligator style clips designed to be hooked directly to your battery.the cheap connector becomes hot to the point of melting. this is due to the high current demand placed on the battery.
your mechanic or local car electroncs store should be able to do this for you. also, it will take approx 5 min to inflate your tire. it is a bit slow.
2. you should run your car engine so the battery doesnt run down. the product has a built in fan that seems to keep the unit cooler while running. i liked it for what it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best portable pump we have ever owned..., January 29, 2006

Okay, it is only the second portable air pump we have owned, but it far outlasted the first one! I suppose everyone's experiences are going to vary. We bought our "Truck Air" compressor in '98 for our three week road trip to Alaska (from Arizona!). After it died at the end of this past year, I figure we got more than our money's worth from it (BTW, I intend to buy the same one to replace it!). Seven years of topping off our cars' tires and helping others with roadside flats, filling basket balls and footballs, repeated fillings of a five gallon air tank (to 100psi!!) has proven to me that it has staying power. Not sure what to say about the negative comments on this site about the pump. No problems with ours at all (no "hot plug," plenty of psi, valve clamp always worked well, built in guage accurate to within 3 pounds, more than enough wiring to reach from the cigarette lighter to each of the four tires on our Tahoe)until I just "wore it out"! The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it is a bit noisy - about as noisy as one of those "pay for air" compressors, but as I said, I still intend to purchase an identical unit, after a shop a bit for the best price. Oh, and another important point, it is "Made in the USA!"
