5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, September 13, 2010

This review is from: Interdynamics QC-1HD R-134a Professional Air Conditioner Charging Gun - Pack of 1 (Automotive)
Purchased this item to recharge the A/C on my 1997 Dodge Caravan. It's handy having the refrigerant can screwed into the base of the gun and having the gauge between the refrigerant can and the low side port. After attaching a new can of refrigerant to the gun pull trigger briefly to push air out of the hose, now attach the hose coupler to the low side port of A/C system. Reminder - vehicle should be running with A/C turned to coldest setting, fan on MAX speed (but I guess you wouldn't be looking at this review if you didn't know the basics). Anyway I liked how you can read the pressure in the system by letting up on the trigger, checking so you don't over-charge. Gun has nice heft and seems solidly made. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pro-Grade Tool, July 18, 2011

After using the cheap plastic tool for years I decided to upgrade. While the plastic tool works, its quality
is lacking but the biggest problem was the too short hose. While charging the AC you need to shake the freon
too promote the transfer to the car,s AC system. This tool has 18" of hose making it much easier to shake up
the can during the charging procedure. The long hose also keeps your hands out of the engine compartment and
all that heat.Bottom line,if you like using a well made quality tool with a very accurate gauge and its
conviencence BUY IT!

greetings all, this is a great tool for checking a/c in the average car or mini van. Well fit to the low pressure side of the system. glycerin filled analog gauge. very accurate. not like the junk most parts stores sell with R 134a. This will last for years of occassional use. well made. highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars R134A A/C Recharge, October 9, 2011

This product is an excellent choice for DIY folks who want to maintain and "top off" their automotive A/C systems. It couldn't be simpler with this device. You'll absolutely LOVE the metal parts if you ever tried re-charging your A/C with those cheap plastic attachments sold at most Auto Parts stores. This metal fitting "fits" with no loss of R134 in the attachment process. Can't always say that for the plastic fittings that really DON'T fit. This was worth every penny to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seems good to me, October 8, 2011

This review is from: Interdynamics QC-1HD R-134a Professional Air Conditioner Charging Gun - Pack of 1 (Automotive)
I bought this to recharge the air-conditioning on my daughter's car. It worked well for me and seemed well made. While a cheaper item might have done the job, I wanted a tool I could use multiple times and I believe this item is made well enough to last for years.
One note to the potential buyer: The gauge on this tool has a fluid inside of it. When I pulled the tool out of its box, I noticed a large bubble in the fluid. I assumed this was a manufacturing flaw and called the company that makes the Charging Gun. The representative was pleasent and knew exactly what I was talking about. She said that is normal - the bubble is supposed to be there - and she thought that her boss's should put a note in the instructions or on the box indicating that "there will be a bubble in the gauge fluid". She did say that she got many calls about the bubble.

4.0 out of 5 stars Probably not worth the extra cost, September 10, 2011

Having used several of the plastic lower cost Interdynamics charging guns, and now this one; I don't see any reason to spend the extra $$ unless you're a professional using it a lot and getting it beat around on a daily basis. Mine was defective when it arrived and would not release refrigerant. I called Interdynamics and they where about as helpful as any customer service I've ever dealt with. The sent me a new unit right away, included a special adapter, and a replacement can of refrigerant for what was "stuck" on the other gun. Works fine now, but doing it over again I would buy the lower cost unit.

I used this to recharge a Toyota Camry (1998) and a Ford F150 (1998). It worked great. Quality is very high. I also have used a charger made by the same company which has 'lights' and 'noise' to tell you when you are at the correct pressure. The one with lights and whistles is not nearly as good because you do not know where you are in the range of acceptable pressure. The one I am reviewing has the gauge which I highly prefer. My only complaint is like another reviewer mentioned -- that is, it would better if the scale between 25 and 55 was larger. But this is by far the best charging gun I have seen. Highly recommend.

This review is from: Interdynamics QC-1HD R-134a Professional Air Conditioner Charging Gun - Pack of 1 (Automotive)
Used to recharge 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan. Has new compresser but there is a small leak somewhere in the system and losing refrigerant.

The 18" hose on this gun made it very easy to reach the low-side port which is far back under the hood. The cheapo-kits sold at WalMart and Autozone are too short, which is why I bought this tool.

The gauge is very clear and easy to read. My system was low with the needle all the way down at the bottom of the green zone. Now at the top of the blue. Took a full 12-oz can, and now cools nicely.

With this tool, and a can of 134a refrigerant with stop-leak, it was as easy to top-off the system as it is to add air to the tires.

NTW wanted $169 to do the same thing. Took me about five minutes with this tool. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appears well made and worked as advertised, August 17, 2011

This review is from: Interdynamics QC-1HD R-134a Professional Air Conditioner Charging Gun - Pack of 1 (Automotive)
My 12 year old car's ac was pumping out cool air, but not cold. This charging device made the addition of refridgerant very easy. I like the metal coupler much better than the plastic type and the seal to the 134a can was secure. The only minor critique I would have is the scaling of the pressure gauge. The full charge is approximately 55 psi, but the scaling goes up to over 200 psi, therefore, making an accurate reading of between 25 to 55 more difficult. The gauge scale is color coded, so this is not a deal breaker. Overall, very good product.

I purchased this product because Autozone sells the cheap plastic connectors which I could never get on. Spend the money for this. Worked perfect with metal housing
