Excellent adapter for Speedlites & modifiers,

This review is from: Interfit Strobies Umbrella Holder with Shoe Adapter (Electronics)
I use several of these to set up Speedlites on lightstands, with and without modifiers, for on-location photography, off-camera flash, reception lighting, etc. The Speedlite slides into the top of the adapter, and the modifier slides into the hole in the top half. It adjusts easily and swivels so that you can adjust the angle. It fits onto every lightstand I own (several brands, couldn't even begin to list them).
I use it primarily with a Canon Speedlite 580EXII and a Westcott 30" square softbox.

Okay for light weight modifiers.,

This is a nice light weight item if you are using light weight modifiers with your off camera flash, such as those by Honl or Lumiquest.
However it is not strong/sturdy enough for anything heavier than light weight, and a cover piece fell off the side of one after only a couple of uses. Definitely not recommend for anything heavier than a small softbox or umbrella. For heavy duty or even constant use I would recommend a metal umbrella holder such as the Bogen - Manfrotto Swivel Umbrella Adapter (Lite-tite) Replaces:2905 also available from Amazon.

Decent cheap adapter....umbrella mount not angled??,

This review is from: Interfit Strobies Umbrella Holder with Shoe Adapter (Electronics)
For a beginning photographer, this is a decent umbrella swivel for the price. I picked up a couple for around $20 each when I first got into lighting, and they are still holding together after regular use. The only strange thing about them, is the hole where you mount the umbrella is not angled as it should be. When you put a speedlite in the cold shoe, it points toward the top of the umbrella, instead of the center as it should? Not a huge problem, just odd. Also, the cold shoe is pretty cheap, and both eventually had to be replaced!Eventually I upgraded to a metal Manfrotto 026 Swivel for about $30, topped with a Frio ENLFRC1A Cold Shoe which is much more secure, and will last a whole lot longer!
