Worth a try,

I bought this album because I was off sick at home and watched The Bread, my sweet on Sky movies. As the credits rolled a voice drifted in to my ears that I had to hear again. I flopped off the sofa to check for the soundtrack listing and saw the name. In my weakened state I managed to get on to Amazon and find one album without the track I'd just heard but thought I'd give it a try anyway. I'm glad I did. What a fantastic voice! If someone doesn't sign her soon and get her music out to a much wider audience I'll start a record company myself and do it. C'mon all you record company types! I'm living proof that you can sell Rachel McCartney in the UK, just get more of it out here. Rachel, good luck and let's hope that you're a household name across the planet by this time next year! By the way, I really liked the album too!!

A great CD for lovers of folk and female rockers,

Rachel McCartney is a wonderful singer/songwriter from the Boston area. I had the pleasure of seeing her and purchasing this CD last summer. As comparisons go, which I hate to do because sometimes they miss, I'd compare her to Shawn Colvin, Ani DiFranco, Sarah Harmer and Bonnie Rait. Rachel is a true talent...a strong strummer on guitar with a booming, but sensitive voice. Sometimes bluesy, sometimes rocking, Rachel sings about relationships and dealing with thier peaks as well as their valleys. She sings openly about her beliefs and struggles. I would recommend this CD, but most of all, look for this artist to break out in the near future.

Soulful folk singer,

I just bought this CD from the sidewalk during a break when Rachel Mccartney (and a bandmate for some songs on clarinet - a nice selection to go with the acoustic guiter) was singing and playing for free in Harvard Square in Cambridge. I'm from Seattle and was visiting on business that day and had the evening free to wander and enjoy the vibrant local scene. Rachel will undoubtedly break-out to be quite popular and probably just needs to get signed to a big label for this to happen. This recording features 8 extremely catchy songs with Rachels soulful singing and some complementary instruments. The recording quality is good but could have benefitted from better mixing/recording - however, I like this recording personally and am giving it 5 stars because it captures the raw street-performance essence of that evening I first heard Rachel and co. in Harvard Sq.

Rachel McCartney's voice is clear, haunting and beautiful. It is a bit like walking into a pub and someone with a phenominal voice is performing on stage. You stop, listen and realize how incredibly lucky you are to be there.

Yeah, this CD's pretty good. Actually, the CD is great! Too bad there aren't any available! Good thing I already have a copy. I wonder if she has a website? I bet you could find one there. hmmmmmmmm.
