Worth the find!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Interiors: A Black Woman's Healing...in Progress (Hardcover)
This book is no longer in print by the original publisher, and --to my understanding-- Ms. Vanzant does NOT condone the book (I don't know why). Apparently she has her own reasons for denouncing the book. However, I found the book EXCELLENT in presenting the "woman" Iyanla, as opposed to the Oprah Winfrey guest star and inspirational speaker. It was written in her own words, but my friends and I have found it to be "eye-opening" into the lesser known issues of one of the country's most popular speakers. It presented Ms. Vanzant as a "peer", rather than the wise, untouchable guru. It's a "gritty" book, but you can almost hear the crying as you read it. I view this book as closer to assisting with healing than the other books.

I met myself again and again with each page I turned!,

After reading the first three pages of this book, I was so uncomfotrable that I immediately set it aside. That quickly, Iyanla Vanzant had reached way deep inside of me and smacked me with hard cold reality. It was uncomfortable yet she seemed somehow so familar that I began to read again and I didn't stop until the end. Her writing and her story are so real and inspring that I wasn't just reading words about her...I was in the story watching and healing along with her. Ever so sisterly she took me into her life and showed me my own. We confronted hard truths together and learned to bring forth spirit together...At points in the book, I was ready to abandon it...afraid that to read on would bring me face to face with too many hard truths of my own. At those times the author takes the reader's hands and skillfully nudges them back into the healing process. It took me a while to read this book. There were any number of pages that were so deep and inspirational that I reread them two and three times. Ultimately, armed with new truths and a companion in the struggle, the author frees her readers with a promise to meet on the other side of healing. Forget the doctor's couch and get down to the nitty gritty with Interiors. Your heart will be tugged, you'll get ticked off and you'll proclaim, "un-huh" numerous times. In the end, you'll just say "yes" and your healing, like mine, will begin.
I thank Iyanla for this book that brought me to the front steps of healing and inspired me to go in!

Amazing and Inspiring!!,

This is arguably the best of Iylana's books! This book touched me as it was a combination of Ms. Vanzant's personal anguish, trial and tribulations as well as her own victories coupled with the thought-provoking inspiration for which she is famous. INTERIORS is a story of one woman's personal journey through some of life's darkest valleys and in facing these demons, she rises like a phoenix into the realm of self-actualization, self-love and most importantly, self-respect. Although INTERIORS is an autobiographical journey of Iylanla Vanzant's life, it can be applicable to anyone who has experienced pain in their own life. It is guaranteed to touch some aspect of each reader in an intimately close manner. Through her pain and suffering, Ms. Vanzant opens up a path of nurturing and healing like none other! This is probably the best book Ms Vanzant has wriiten. It allows you to understand the person before she knew what to do. She is real, damaged and fresh. This book allows you to grow with her, and please know after you read her story you will be alright. All black women should have this book. I'm so sad it's out of print- though the search is well worth the knowledge

I could NOT put this book down! What a wonderful insight into the life of a woman and what courage and healing she has had to endure. I have great respect for anyone who can overcome the odds stacked against them, and I have a better understanding on what it takes to do that.

Exceptional,

I am just speechless I recently obtained this book late last year from a website and a wonderful person who forwarded it to my attention (the internet does work) I found that Iyanla is a exceptional individual for all that she has gone through in her lifetime, and focus her remains on Love(GOD). Through it all she is able to help others with this particular novel by sharing her experiences, trials and tribulations and to have the spirit of the Lord walking with her every step of the way even when the going seemed a little rough. All I can say readers is she is a truly a child of God. I enjoy all of Iyanla's material but I really enjoyed this one along with Tapping the Power Within. Iyanla my hat goes off to you because through it all you remained focused and truly are a blessed child of God.Outstanding....

The book opened up a lot of doors for healing for me. It made me realize some of the things that I had long forgotten and made me realize that i had a lot of healing to do from things that had happened to me in the past. The inspiring words in the book are an inspiration for all women and I would encourage all black women of any age to read this book. become one with your self and the healing will begin. Thank you Ms Vanzant

Iyanla has become a part of my life through her inspirational writings. This book made me cry, laugh, and triumphed. It definitely drew me in. More importantly, it has touched the deepest, most personal places in my being. Places where before, I dared not let anyone go (only Iyanla). This book was more like a personal deliverance for me. Thank God, she made it through her trials and tribulations to share with us. DON'T STOP INSPIRING US IYANLA!!!!
