3.0 out of 5 stars Good device, but dim laser
This device is great for PowerPoint presentations. It's simple and ergonomic. The only problem is that the laser pointer is too dim. It barely shows up. I've yet to find one of these remote devices that incorporates a decent laser pointer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for PowerPoint, November 18, 2003

I do a lot of speaking - workshops, keynotes, etc. - and recently bought this to replace my old serial-port remote. It works like a dream from both close up and while wandering in a big room and does everything it needs to for a reliable PowerPoint presentation. As a bonus, it is really small. The remote, batteries, and small USB stick fit into its own bag, which is smaller than a glasses case. I am more than happy with it and would recommend this product to anyone looking for a small, reliable, and uncomplicated PowerPoint remote.

One small recommendation - be sure to remove the batteries when you're not using it. Any jostling during your travels will push the buttons and wear out the batteries. Of course, this advice would be the same for all remotes. I just had to learn it the hard way!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for what it's designed for., February 4, 2003

I really found this remote to be perfect for what it's supposed to do, run PowerPoint. It has a nice look, fits perfectly in the palm of your hand (as opposed to my old, bulky remote that I found myself fidgeting with), and runs PowerPoint like a dream. I have free range within my training room and quick response to commands. It is also is very easy to use with a simple layout for the technology impaired user.

The only warning that I would give anyone is that the RemotePoint Navigator is designed to run PowerPoint and nothing else. If you want it to run other programs, you're better off looking for something else. In my organization, many of the subject matter experts produce their own slide shows for training or presentations. Many of them prefer to use Corel Presentations over PowerPoint (I don't know why). This remote doesn't work well with Corel Presentations because of the commands.

However, if your only goal is to run PowerPoint, I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Free yourself from the keyboard!, January 26, 2004
By
This review is from: Interlink Electronics Point Navigator Wireless Remote Control (Office Product)
I am a university professor whose lectures are typically delivered via Powerpoint presentations. Our school has wireless mouses but they are unreliable. So, up to now I have been obliged to walk back to the classroom computer's keyboard every time I wanted to advance to a new slide. This constant movement made me (or anyone) look nervous and disorganized.

The Interlink Navigator frees me from the keyboard entirely. Now I can manage class discussion from anywhere in the room without having to return to the keyboard.

Its operation could not be simpler. Plug the receiver into your computer's USB port and go. There are only 4 buttons on this thing: forward (to the next slide), backwards (to the previous slides), then 2 that a wireless mouse can't duplicate: a "black out" button that darkens the screen when it isn't relevant to the conversation, and a laser pointer that allows you to focus the class' attention on a particular aspect of a slide.

The Navigator is so small and light that you can hide it in any pocket or hold it unobstrusively in the palm of your hand. I will never be without it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does just one thing, but perfectly! Highly recommended, April 23, 2003
This review is from: Interlink Electronics Point Navigator Wireless Remote Control (Office Product)
This is the best use to which you can put a greenback if you talk or present as part of your work. This ain't no mouse and it has just one use: presentations. It is not cheap, but then it does not feel cheap either. The build quality is excellent (and it is actually US made...a rarity nowadays). The laser beam is a little on the dim side but the range is excellent. I've tried it both on a Mac and on XP without a hitch. It also comes with a little carrying pouch. A note of caution: this thing is not as thin as it looks in the pictures...I'd say its about 3/4 of an inch thick. I'd say you get what you pay for, and you pay a lot for this gadget. Overall, highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product - Terrible cust service, June 7, 2004
This review is from: Interlink Electronics Point Navigator Wireless Remote Control (Office Product)
The one I purchased arrived defective. It took customer service almost 2 months to fully correct the problem and send another unit.

When it works, it's a great device. Good range and has the key features for a good presentation.

I too am a university prof who makes power point presentations several times per week. This tool changed my whole flow for the better. I rec'd it as part of an industry event give-away and let it sit in my desk for several weeks before I started using it. What was I waiting for?! It's so simple to use -- plug and play at its finest -- and so far it has been reliable for its intended purpose. The laser is a bit dim, but it's fine. Great product and worth the $$$. If you present for a living, you will be pleased you went this route.

5.0 out of 5 stars This thing is awesome!, February 10, 2003

I'm telling everyone I know about this very slick device! After two years and a miserable experience with a (more expensive) GyroMouse Presenter (it only worked every other day) that concluded with the product failing during my most important presentation of the year, I bought the Remote Point. And I love it. It is truly Plug and Play in both Mac and PCs. I'm a PC user and the first time I used it, I was co-presenting with a Mac user. We switched the device back and forth, and even with another PC user -- it worked perfectly with no configuring of computers or software necessary. It does exactly what it says AND makes you look very professional in the process. I just returned from a conference where I demonstrated it to about 20 other presenters and they all thought it was very slick...and it looks very cool too. Based on my experiences over the past 3 weeks using this very compact package, I can't recommend it highly enough.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interlink Navigator prone to interference, June 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Interlink Electronics Point Navigator Wireless Remote Control (Office Product)
Good product for the most part, however on two occasions the Presenter quit functioning in the middle of slide shows due to RF interference. We are looking at the 2.5 ghz model in the hopes that will be less prone to stray RFI. Next show we will have both an IR and a RF remote.

I bought this because I give a lot of seminars and it works a treat. No software to instal, no wires, simply plug-and-play. The only thing that I can fault with this product is the Laser Beam is rather weak. If you really need this feature in your presentation remote, then you may want to look for something else. But if you don't then this is an excellent piece of kit.
