Found these guys a couple of years ago, and would say I'd worn off the wheels on their prior albums... but I still find myself listen to them, find new places hidden in their music to explore. In like fashion, "Interloper" is at home amongst their prior albums. A hypnotic journey that doesn't steer the listener. However, if you are turned off by other ambient or chill artists for their monotony, CBLs music remains thought provoking, profound, and inspiriing. I can only hope they continue to produce more great music. If you haven't discovered CBL yet, you will not lose with Interloper, or any of their previous endeavors. They are simply brilliant.

Life changing music,

"Chill" music is kind of a new genre to me, having started with Tangerine Dream in the 80's, through JMJ and the 1-3 A.D. offerings. All stuff that led, thankfully to a type of music that is contained in "Interloper". I have a freind who keeps up-to-date on all the Ultimae and other ambient recording distributors. He introduced me to CBL with the amazing track, "Silent Running" a couple of years ago. The best part of "Interloper" is on track #1 you can starting playing from 3:00 in to anyone on the planet and they will say, "Wow, that sounds cool, what is that?" Of course, they are likely not to be chill aficionados. But I can guarantee with a following listen of "Supercede", they will say that this is at least valuable, high-quality and potentially life-changing music. I guess the only knock I would ever have, and I have it with the majority of chill, is that I might prefer a change-up a little sooner in the song, or maybe more often. CBL does an excellent job of doing that. As I write this, I am listening to the tracks, and the ending of track #1 is an interesting sound. Will have to look that up? The best part is that, of this writing, Amazon is offering Track #2 free = automatic download! (haven't heard it yet tho, lol) In all, crank up "Supercede" real loud for something cool, and dance with your honey all night with "Interloper" on 'repeat'....

It seems like Interloper takes you on a journey. The range of emotions the album evokes is as difficult to describe as is the album's music. As background, it does not perform well - it needs your full attention. Listen to it at night, in the dark, without distractions, so that it can lead you into another sonic world.

CBL's Best Effort Yet - A Masterpiece,
This review is from: Interloper (MP3 Download)
Much like their most recent World Of Sleepers, this album is certainly spacey and atmospheric, but also uplifting and energetic. Branching into these subtly different electronic genres has always been the primary allure of CBL, and they just keep getting better and better at it with each release. They've added more vocals, piano, and guitar on this album than their previous efforts, but rather than falling into common territory as perhaps expected, they've used each with the perfect amount to keep the essential CBL feel intact. My favorite tracks are the mesmerizing Central Plain and the brilliant finale Polyrytmi - both reminiscent of mid-70's Tangerine Dream. CBL covers a lot of ground here but the album is totally seamless along the way; a true masterpiece. Its hard to describe in words, but here's a few: organic, serene, rhythmic, earthly, warm, surreal, mystical, hypnotic, profound, timeless.

Excellent release!!,

I have been anxiously waiting for this third CBL album, and I am not disappointed in the least! I have listened to Hydroponic Garden and World of Sleepers over and over since I first bought the albums a year or two ago, I cannot exactly remember, and I am thrilled to now have additional CBL material to listen to. Out of the Ambient genre bands, CBL is one of my ultimate favorite. They have come up with a great blend of electronic threads, eery vocals, and solid beats. If you liked the previous releases, this one is sure to please you! Enjoy!
