Live versions of the 1st cd with addional studio tracks,
By
This review is from: Interlude (Audio CD)
Contains 5 live versions of their first cd, Iron Savior - self titled, and another 5 studio tracks in the same melodic vain with the drum tempo changing constantly, and not the endless 32 beats/second drumming found on the second cd - Unification. One of the studio tracks, 'Desert Plains' is a great cover version of the Judas Priest song. The audio quality on the live songs is excellent. I have heard better and have heard worse recordings of this power metal genre ,thus it gets a 7.5/10. NOTE - for those playing this video enhanced cd on their computer. Make sure you have set your volumne control before loading because the video (and the option to listen to the other songs) takes over the screen without any volume control attached to it. The video is a live performance at the Wacken festival.

Iron Savior is wonderful. This third cd has the same high quality as the others. All the songs are very good. If you like Helloween or Gamma Ray, try it.

1 live EP plus 1 studio EP = 1 great power metal disc,

German power metal warriors Iron Savior released the Interlude collection in 1999. This appropriately-titled collection came between proper Iron Savior albums and is more or less a pair of EPs (one live and one studio) back to back. The first five songs are taken from the band's live performance at the 1998 Wacken Open Air festival, and show the band in fine form. We get to hear vocal performances by both Pete Sielck and Kai Hansen. The next four songs are all-new studio tracks that continue the Iron Savior storyline. This is the real reason I bought this disc, and they're well worth the price of admission. Interlude closes with a wicked cover of Judas Priest's classic "Desert Plains." Iron Savior totally nailed this song, which also appears on the Century Media collection Tribute to Judas Priest Volume II: Delivering the Goods. There are also some video and other multimedia bells and whistles in the enhanced part of the CD, which is a nice extra. I don't know that I'd call this an essential release, but if you're a serious Iron Savior fan, you're going to want to own a copy of Interlude. I suppose it would also make a decent and affordable introduction to those who are unfamiliar with the band. |
