I bought 12 of these lights last year, and within THREE month the finish on ALL of them started pealing off!! They were not within range of any sprinklers etc., and half of them are positioned in shade and were never exposed to direct sun light (I live in San Diego).

Of course, Malibu (Intermatic) assumes no responsibility (pealing finishes are interestingly enough NOT covered by the warranty).

Save your $$$$

I also bought these lights and the antique copper finish peeled off within a short time. I'm telling everyone I know not to buy from Malibu because of the poor quality of their products. Save your money and go with another manufacturer who provides a decent product and good customer service.

This is a good light, but needs a better factory coating. Other reviewers state the finish comes off, and mine have discolored also. The bulbs also would continuously burn out until I put clear aquarium sealant around the area on top where water would seep in. Now the bulbs rarely burn out... maybe from old age, but not from water. I've had mine for almost five years and they keep ticking. I needed three more, so I bought them here. These will take up to an 18W bulb, if you want a brighter area.

I love the way these look lining my flower beds and the light they give off. But after 2 years or so the finish is pealing on some of them. And the bulb life is not good, probably because the bottom is open to the elements. I have had Malibu cs140k lights (completely sealed bulbs) around my pool for 2 years and have yet to replace a single bulb.

Great product and easy to change bulbs. The copper finish will come off after about one year. It will turn to a verde green patina which can look quite natural if that's what you want.

I love the look of these, but when they arrived, there is no way to plug them in. The description doesn't say they are attached together by 3's, nor does it say you have to have some other part (what?? I couldn't get customer service to tell me) to plug them into a socket, since they are low voltage. In addition, you lose 33% of the cost, by the time you pay a 15% restocking fee and the shipping fee to you AS WELL AS the return postage. I would advise not to buy them. Another reviewer says the finish comes off.

As others have commented, the finish corrodes and looks awful very quickly. So, rather than throw them away I scraped off the loose stuff with a wire brush and sprayed Rustoleum hammered copper spray paint on the metal parts. They're heading into their third Wisconsin winter after painting and they still look brand spanking new. I gave them 3 stars simply because they were so easy to repaint.
