It is too complex, and the website is down for instructions.

The problem remains though, that everytime there is a power outage or a time change, I have to reprogram it.
Lisa M.
If you want a digital timer, get the DT300 or the DT121 instead.

As your other reviewers have pointed out, it is a very difficult unit to program. Once you do, you'll be happy with how it works and that it has battery backup.

I have two, one set for the spring time setting and one for the fall; I just switch the plug of the security light as needed because I can't stand the frustration and time it takes to program this.

Here's the other rub -- the batteries are a weird hearing-aid size, which are as difficult to find as the unit is to program.

So, because of the difficulty in programming and the difficulty in getting new backup batteries, this has to be one star.

Don't waste your time with this timer. At first glance it seems cool with the clockface and the side scroll wheel. Even though it is digital, you cannot enter exact times (e.g. 6:45). You just mark the approximate location on the clockface for when to start and stop. So basically, this is the digital equivalent of the analog timers where you slot in the pegs. But at least the analog timers are way cheaper and easier to use. I had to study the instructions to figure out how to set the times. If you want a digital timer, get the DT300 or the DT121 instead.

Once you get this monster programmed, it works like a champ. I especially like the battery back-up, in case the power goes out when I'm out of town. But programming it is really a bear. The instructions don't explain how to make a programming change "stick" -- you have to press the Event button again after changing the settings. I finally wrote this on the instruction sheet so that I can change the time on the timer in less than 1/2 hour and with fewer cuss words.

This is an excellent digital programmable timer with battery backup. You program it, it works reliably and has very useful features. If there's a power outage while you're away, it stays in sync when the power returns. If those things are important to you, as they are to me, you'll be very happy with this unit. For what you get, the price is incredible!

By the way, the batteries are type 357, available at any Radio Shack, discount store or drug store.

If you don't care that much about reliability, aren't concerned about resetting the timer after a power outage and just want a simple-to-setup timer, move along. There are lots of other cheap alternatives.

All the negative reviews are correct, and here is one more: despite being designed to plug into a wall electrical outlet, this timer will not function when the batteries are dead. Stupidest engineering ever!!!!

I ordered 5...recieved 4. 2 of them have dead power cells, I replaced myself at $5 per set. I guess it wouldn't be wise to
buy this product. My 5th one must still be floating in cyber space somewhere.
