This is a decent low-cost timer for controlling Z-Wave devices. A good way to get sarted with Z-Wave automation.
Programming is a bit cumbersome, but not atypical for this kind of device. The first challenge is finding the programming button panel, which is well hidden under the front cover. (The instructions don't seem to illustrate how the cover opens.) At times I've experienced unreliable operation (missed turn ons) when I used the sunset/sunrise feature. Setting a specific on/off time seems to work consistently. It wasn't well explained in the instructions, but in addition to specifying a zone as a starting point for the sunset/sunrise time, you can set them to a custom value, and it will then adjust your time going forward. Unfortunately it does not support the concept of switching devices at an offset to the sunset/sunrise time. (For example, you might want an interior light to come on at 30 minutes before sunset, as it gets darker inside first, while an exterior light you might not need on until 30 minutes after sunset.) Not a show stopper, but it is worth noting that this device has obsolete daylight savings time transition dates, and the manufacturer is still producing units with the obsolete firmware (which isn't upgradeable). So you'll have to disable DST and reset the time manually twice a year. Support from the manufacturer has been acceptable. They respond to email inquires within a few days. I recently damaged the display on my unit, and not surprisingly Intermatic says that replacement parts aren't available. I'm considering trying the similar "Sylvania Z-Wave Remote Control with LCD" rather than buying a replacement HA07C.

Works Well,

The HA07C does what I wanted. The only negative is that it does not have an internal light to see the display in dim light. I have to turn a light on manually to see the display.

Awesome Remote / No Backlighting or LED's / Horrible Instructions!!,

The HA07C is the heart of your Z-WAVE network. It controls the lighting and appliance "controllers" with individual timer like settings with many options for on and off controls. The unit is easy to pair with an individual controller but pairing it to the hand held remote HA09C was a challenge, however the correct procedure was very easy after I called tech support. Additionally the instructions explain how to set an "on time" for the controllers but do not tell you how to set an "off time" for them in detail. I am tech savy and had problems. Another huge drawback, in my opinion, is that there are no confirmation LED's on this unit like the handheld HA09C has and no backlighting on the display so when the controller sends a command you can not tell if it was sent and received by the controllers unless you have good lighting to see the screen. Why you would put bright LED's on the handheld to show when a command is sent and received and not on the master or a backlight display for that matter is a mystery to me. The problem arises that if you want timer functions for your Z-WAVE products this is the only timer that Intermatic offers. This really sucks at night when its near to impossible to see the display in a dimly lit room. That is why the HA09C Handheld remote is the perfect compliment to the entire system. Intermatics Z-Wave products work flawlessly after being set up. Its the set up which may drive you mad. I highly recommend the entire Z-WAVE line for reliablity and convenience.

The HA07 is a great Z-Wave controller,

Initially, I had problems programming it but after calling the help desk, that was cleared up. The primary problems I encountered were that their manual had omissions and errors that made setup a real pain until that was resolved. After that, I have had no issues with this product, other than that the programming is not intuitive.

The only problem is that the display is not iluminated. The feedback that the switch worked is very small to read sometimes. The price was good, so the product is a good value.
