I purchased this timer to control an air conditioner that I installed in my garage. The air conditioner has its own thermostat, but no day to day clock.
Installation could not have been any simpler. The timer simply plugs into the wall outlet, and then the air conditioner cord plugs into the side of the timer. The timer has a standard, 3-prong, 20A, 240V plug and outlet.
The timer works as expected -- the on and off times are set using the familiar plastic tabs that one often sees elsewhere (on landscape light transformers, water heater timers, etc.).
You may not want to use this plug in or next to a bedroom as the mechanical clock's ticking noise is loud.
For this price, I expected to be able to find a 7-day schedule timer (digital or mechanical), rather than this same-schedule-each-day unit. But I searched and did not find much of a selection among low cost, 240 volt timers.

Note that these appliance timers rarely work on modern window a/c units.
Most modern window a/c units have electronic controls (for example digital display of the temperature as oppose to just a dial).
When power is cut to these units they will NOT re-start when the power comes back on - unless you manually turn the unit on. This is the case if there is a ten minute power outage in your neighborhood or if an appliance timer cuts the power to the unit for several hours while you are at work.
Buyer beware .. before buying, at least test buy hitting the circuit breaker off, then on a few minutes later and see if your unit starts again.

Seems to work fine.
Note that this is NOT for most household appliances. It uses the 220-type plug and socket, and will not work in household outlets and devices with standard lamp and small-appliance plugs.
The description probably needs to emphasize this more to avoid returns.

Not what I thought it would be.
It will not work on the clothes dryer circuit because of the plug. This timer is only for the type of plug used in a 20 AMP circuit. Read more

Good Product with non US connecting Plugs
It is a good product if you can find Pins and Plugs to connect it to your supply lines. The product description doesn't mention this problem for US consumers.
