5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product when you need an inexpensive alarm
Having bought this alarm for my own windows, slider and screen doors, I recommend it highly. It is a very simple system and inexpensive way to secure your home, alerting you to an attempt at intrusion with a loud alarm.

1.0 out of 5 stars Window Alarms
This product, in theory is a wonderful idea. However, the double sided tape fails miserably to hold the two sides of the alarm to the window/door surface. Indoor house temperatures were normal, no severe cold, heat, or humidity. But upon returning home the first day, one alarm had fallen and rung to the point of a dead battery. Within the first week, all four had...

Having bought this alarm for my own windows, slider and screen doors, I recommend it highly. It is a very simple system and inexpensive way to secure your home, alerting you to an attempt at intrusion with a loud alarm.
When installed, the magnetic field is broken when the window or door opened and the alert sounds out.
There is a simple on and off switch when you do not want the system active.
For hotter, humid climates such as Florida, I have found using heavy duty velcro a more reliable way to secure the alarm for the long run than the double sided foam provided.
Buy this if you're worrying about breakins! You'll sleep better.

5.0 out of 5 stars No one's getting in our window without us knowing, March 2, 2008

We bought this for the room at the far end of the house from our bedroom. I've long worried that if someone forced or broke that far window at night, we'd never hear it. With this alarm there's virtually no way someone will get in that window without the siren going off, and that should be enough to scare them away. If not, we'll be there with our dogs and baseball bat to welcome them.

This window alarm is very easy to set up. Because we live in hot FL and it's a south-facing window, I took the advice of some other reviewers and fixed the halves with velcro rather than using the included sticky foam. I also placed it at the bottom of the window rather than either side to make it even more difficult for an intruder to avoid tripping it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Window Alarms, August 10, 2008

This product, in theory is a wonderful idea. However, the double sided tape fails miserably to hold the two sides of the alarm to the window/door surface. Indoor house temperatures were normal, no severe cold, heat, or humidity. But upon returning home the first day, one alarm had fallen and rung to the point of a dead battery. Within the first week, all four had fallen and were ringing their alarms -some faintly by that time and others at close to full decibal level. Would hot glue or that super tacky stuff the infomercial pushes be the answer?!?

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely loud!, September 7, 2007

This little alarm is definitely loud, and I know I would hear it if an intruder forced my door open. My hope is that it would also scare away any intruders. Happily, however, I can't say that it's been tested under an actual intrusion.

3.0 out of 5 stars For the price it is good ....but, February 20, 2009
This review is from: Intermatic SP440B Wireless Window Alarm, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
the item itself is ok...had several returns on it [ bought 6 altogether ]
but was never stalled or given an hassles.

Just get some velcro from your local hardware store instead of using the stick pads provided. It cost about a buck.

What happens is that the stick pads fail, when you're not home, the alarm falls goes off, until batteries wear out rendering item useless.

Would purchase again knowing above.

5.0 out of 5 stars On your window... or in your pocket, October 9, 2009

These are the most reliable, cheapest and compact portable sound alarms ever invented. Have some permanently installed at home, but also installed them at work when I worked early/weekend hours by myself. Use dime-size velcro dots and then just take the two parts with you when you leave. (Or leave them up, in the 'off' position.)

They also work for large objects, such as computers, that strangers should not be moving. (Very easy to set-up and velcro dots are easy to remove when no longer needed.)

Best, they can be used as a personal safety sound alarm. Just carry the part with the switch in your palm, flick it on with your thumb. (I can carry one unnoticed and I have a small hand.) And is LOUDER, CHEAPER, MORE PORTABLE than any other safety device I've tested.

4.0 out of 5 stars Product detail is incorrect on battery requirement, June 18, 2009

I ordered after reading in the product detail that it took 1 AA battery. Unit actually takes 3 button cell batteries, which is what the product "description" says. Unfortunately I didnt see the conflicting statements. Other than that product is as described and works well. It just would have been much better to put a long lasting lithium AA instead of expensive and short lived button cells in them.

5.0 out of 5 stars These work great for little kids and a great night time reassurance for break-in's, May 7, 2008

We bought these years ago when our son was 2 and we had foster kids. We use them on doors as well as windows. They are great at night when my wife is alone. She feels safer woth these. The batteries have not been replaced for 4 years and they are still working awesome. We turn them on every night. This is alot cheaper than an alarm. We recommend these to everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great item, July 13, 2009
This review is from: Intermatic SP440B Wireless Window Alarm, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
I got these for my college daughter's first apartment. They are easy to put in place and make a loud piercing noise if the window is opened. My only issue is the adhesive fell off one window, and the alarm went off. Once that was addressed a great deal on a creative product.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Better Security Deal, Anywhere, For The Money., June 15, 2010

This review is from: Intermatic SP440B Wireless Window Alarm, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
Stick it on, turn on the on/off switch, and feel safe for under $10. You can't beat these. We put them on all of our doors. We live way out in the country. If someone comes in the door, they will get an ear piercing blast from this device. That ear piercing blast will also give me time to grab the gun and check things out.
Worth the money!
