Functional but I Don't Love It,
This review is from: Intermatic TN800CL 15 Amp Indoor Heavy Duty Mechanical Timer, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this timer to control the lights on a pair of fish tanks. It performs this function reliably. I had a bit of trouble getting the timing figured out; for whatever reason, the visuals just weren't intuitive to me. Once I got that part figured out, though, the timer just putters along turning the lights on and off when it's supposed to. The thing I don't like is that it makes a contstant low mechanical whirring noise. The noise wouldn't bother me in a moderately noisy area like a kitchen or living room with a TV running, but it annoys the heck out of me in the quiet room where I have my tanks. I'm eventually going to replace it with a digital timer because of the noise issue. On the plus side, it's got two grounded plugs. I was a little disappointed to find I couldn't control them separately, but I don't think that function is common in this price range.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Intermatic TN800CL 15 Amp Indoor Heavy Duty Mechanical Timer, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
I was able to figure out how to use the little pins no problem, and I appreciate that they are attached to the timer (I have an older version of this kind of timer and I've lost some of the pins). However even though the timer makes a huge "clicking" noise when it reaches the time it's supposed to turn the appliance on or off, my appliance never goes off, it just stays on 24/7. I don't know if this is because the appliance is a particularly heavy duty one (in-room rolling dehumidifier) but the timer is basically useless and I've gone back to just turning the appliance on and off manually.
