I picked up a copy of the 6th edition of this book ... at the dump swap table of all places. I figured... I teach special ed in high school, another algebra book can't hurt, maybe it'll have another angle on things that will help a student.

Well, it DOES have new angles on things and wonderful ways of explaining topics. In the first chapter alone I found two angles on topics that I will use with students. McKeague has such a good understanding of his topic that he can step back and explain it with respect to the students' prior knowledge. This bridge from known to new is exactly what ALL students (not just special ed students) need when learning something new.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book. If you're a teacher, I recommend finding a used copy of a prior edition, since you can find them here on Amazon at a price that fits teaching salaries. Read through it... even the topics you think you know everything about. I suspect you might find a hint and tip and method of explaining that you too will read and say "BRILLIANT!!!" and that will help your students tremendously.

This purchase represents everything people are afraid of about buying something on-line. We needed Charles McKeague's Elementary and Intermediate Algebra and this book, Charles McKeague's Intermediate Algebra, was listed in the middle of the list of available books. Bought the book for $98.98--not inexpensive for a used book. Upon its arrival we immediately noticed it wasn't the book we needed (or thought we had ordered.) Contacted the seller and asked if she would help us with our problem. What would the one response that anyone in a similiar position as us would least like to hear? Probably the one the seller promptly sent us--the sorry, buyer beware--tough beans to you, type of response. OUCH!
