I just recieved my Legacy AS1000 Alto Saxophone via Federal Express today. The packaging was excellent. It was packed in two boxes with the the label Fragile on the outside of the box. At first I have to tell you how very Sceptical I was purchasing this Saxophone. When I opened the boxes and removed the Saxophone from the Case I was very pleased with the way it looked. The gold Laqeure finish on the keys really stood out and made instrument look great. It is Brand New out of the Box and has never been used. The saxophone looks great and it doesn't look like a student saxophone. It looks like a professional saxophone. It doesn't have the Etched in caligraphy that other saxophones have but that was not important to me. This Saxophone is Beautiful. This Saxophone and the Jean Baptiste Saxophone must have been made at the same factory because they are Identical in every way. So what is important to me is how the Saxophone sounds and plays! At the same time I ordered the Legacy AS1000 Alto Saxophpnone I purchased a Yamaha YAC1287 AZ-5C Mouth Piece and I am very glad I did. I put the Saxophone together and played it. The Saxophone sounded great! It has great tone and the keys on the saxophone work great. It felt really easy to play and with the Yamaha mouth piece I was able to hit all the notes. I researched all types of Alto saxophones from Yamaha, Selmer and Yanagisawa. I was of course really concerned about the price these paticular Saxophones cost. $1500.00 to $ 2000.00 or more is a lot of of money out of pocket. I watched a ton of Youtube videos on Saxophones to see which would be the best one to purchase. This can be difficult to make a choice due to the fact that a Professional Saxophonist can make any saxophone sound great. A beginner or new saxphonist can make a good saxophone sound not so good.Read more ›

I need to purchase an Alto Saxophone for my son because his teacher informed us it was time. Unfortunately, we live in an area without many Music stores so we were unable to try some out, in combination with a small budget. We decided to try the Legacy saxophone because it met all the credentials that our teacher set and was in our price range. It came very fast, which my son was super excited about. It played perfectly out of box (from what I can tell). We brought it to our teacher and he LOVED it! It's nice to know you don't have to spend a fortune to get your kid a solid instrument. Our teacher was raving about how great the tone and intonation are. I would highly recommend this instrument to any parent in my situation.

According to my son, "It is a great horn for marching band but not as good if you are intending to use it for concert band. The upper register is a little difficult to sustain a loud sound without it becoming quiet. Of course for marching band you never really have to go that high. If you get a good mouthpiece, it should work fine but the one that comes with it is not good." Our son uses a Eugene Rousseau mouthpiece with this one but any good concert mouthpiece should work just fine. If you are looking for an inexpensive marching horn and do not want to break your good concert saxophone, this is a good option.
